The only way he will get faster is by getting stronger.

I had a mate called Gary, he was fat untill he was 17 then he became a fitness freak, he was always a decent player on the ball and intelligence wise but he was never excellent at it, he could outsmart the average sunday league player... Now he's probably the same still in this area but he's now got unbelievable fitness levels and he's become about a yard and a half quicker, he's alot harder to beat for pace, he's also become physically stronger and its given him the confidence to know if he decides to make a run he knows he's now got the fitness to get back if he's needed.
Its not bollox, its common sense.
