Liverpool defender Josemi feels the club have been badly affected by the loss of Djibril Cisse.
The France international striker broke his leg in a league game with Blqackburn last month and is unlikely to play again this season.
Some critics had questioned Cisse's output since his summer switch to Anfield, but Josemi insists the former Auxerre star has been sorely missed since his terrible injury.
"We are noticing the loss of Cisse because he was our reference up front," the Spaniard told AS.
"We could relieve pressure by playing the ball up to him.
"But now we have Milan (Baros) and (Florent) Sinama Pongolle and (Neil) Mellor, people that can do a good job."
The former Malaga full back believes he is adapting to life in England well, although he admits he is still struggling to come to terms with Merseyside's cold climate.
"When I arrived I did not understand anything, I did not speak a world of English," he continued.
"I had never been out of Malaga before, and that was the truth.
"The climate here is a lot colder and you certainly notice it. But the rest has gone marvellously, better than I ever couold have imagined.
"When the opportunity arose (to move to Liverpool) I was not going to turn it down.
"The boss (Rafa Benitez) called me I did not not have to think about it. But I wanted to leave Malaga on a good note, and I think I achieved it."
