im not sure if fowler came back he would be a success as he hasnt shown any form since signing for city, but if we could get him for cheap and on a short contract we couldnt lose really, and like ivor said the fans would love to see god come back and it could rejuvinate robbie.

But the chances of benitez signing robbie are slim i think, and i dont see it happening.

It's a mystery how Robbie Fowler went from a 30 goal a season striker to Man City bench warmer at 29 years of age. Obviously, injury cursed him for a couple of years but more than anything I reckon he simply lost his hunger. By the time he recovered from his injuries Michael Owen was the golden boy at anfield and Houllier always fancied Heskey alongside him over Owen. Goal scoring always came naturally to Fowler during the "God" years but he always knew his name would be automatically in the team sheet every week. He never had to keep looking over his shoulder to see who was warming up to take his place. Back then Fowler was simply preoccupied with putting the ball in the net.

Apparently Fowler is now worth around £50 million and appears to be in auto pilot as he plays out the rest of his career with his side kick McManaman.

However, I reckon Fowler would gladly give away alot of his fortune if he was given the chance to right a few wrongs, turn the clock back and return to his true home.

If it was suggested at the start of the season that Fowler could do a job for us I would have laughed...but after watching the chances we are creating but not finishing off I reckon we should send out the S.O.S. to Robbie. However, Robbie on his own will not be enough. I reckon we should spalsh out on Morientes in January and bring Robbies home if we get a good price. That partnership certainly beats Baros and Pongolle.

Robbie's best on his own. Not with a strike partner. Unless that strike partener is a better supplier than goalscorer with crossing ability, pace and dribbling.

Fowler showed serious signs of demise in his last season for Liverpool, as his pace dried up and his concentration diminished.

His concentration diminished because he knew Thommo & Houllier were happy to get rid of him. He knew his days under that regime were numbered. True, his pace has diminished and he will never score 30 goals again in a season but if he can recover his hunger and get back to peak fitness he would be just the man to tuck away alot of the chances that Garcia, Kewell, Baros and Pongolle are missing.

JBG i seriously disagree.

Fowler has never been the play he was made out to be.

Alround his game wasn't great. He had a decent alround game but nothing special. HOWEVER... goalscoring wise he was a genius, i think he proved that even further in the treble season despite not being first choice, playing a system which didn't suit him AT ALL and still managing to net 17 goals.

We scored a hell of a lot of goals that season Stu, but to my eye at least, Fowler showed signs of expanding his game in the first season under Houllier before going into serious decline.

I'm not blaming Houllier, I think Robbie lost his sharpness and hunger.

A striker's job is to score goals and Fowler in his prime was the most natural finisher since Greaves.

So what if Owen's allround game is better his job is to score goals and he will never be as good as Fowler was at scoring.

I remember you saying that Ferninand was world class and a much better player than Campbell but again a defender's job especially a centre half is not to look good on the ball but defend.

Again Campbell is a much better defender than Ferdinand will ever be.
