I love the way that people are pouring scorn over Johnson - he's clearly a very good player who has managed to convert a fantastic scoring record in the first division to a pretty impressive scoring record in the prem. That's rare enough in this day and age to warrant a closer look.
His touch, composure and finishing looks very good to me, and - while people are well within the rights to hold up the "flash in the pan" card to him - I've seen enough to suggest that he's currently doing well because he's genuine quality as opposed to him finding a freakish run of form. He particularly impressed me after he'd scored against Birmingham by not going OTT celebrating, as all too often you see former players incensing their old supporters with ridiculously overblown theatrics. That's the kind of thing that people remember, and if there's one thing that people underestimate in the game these days, it's a hard-working honest pro that makes friends and influences others by their actions on the field. It's also good to see a promoted team scoring goals, as all too often they bounce up and down without making much of an impression on the Premiership.
Johnson wouldn't be my first choice, but if LFC go in for him, you'll hear no complaints from me.
Incidentally, it's very interesting to hear us linked with Ibrahimovic. Can't see it happening, but potentially a very exciting signing.
