Need help folks
Looking for freeware, open source software (preferably one that will not leave a watermark or logo on the output file) to convert MOV and AVI files that I can burn onto a DVD player.....to play on the TV at home. Bit of a mouthful that one....
One other thing - can you 'rotate' a movie clip so that you don't have to crane your head thru 90 degrees to watch the output on the TV ?
'Er indoors has taken dozens of clips over the years, all on the laptop, and I want to burn them onto a DVD to make some space on the hard drive.
Thanks folks
Please feel free to IM me and we can take it offline.
Cheers !

I used to use convertxtodvd before. But why convert to DVD? DVD actually makes the size bigger and the resolution is also not that great. If you have clips recorded in HD, converting to DVD will reduce the quality.

Mate, the missus is doing my head in. She wants them on a DVD to slot into the DVD player and watch them on tv. Can't be bothered to hook up a laptop to the tv via HDMI cable. Fair enough, I suppose.
The other problem is that some are MOV and AVI format, some portrait and others not, so it's a total pain in the hole!
I've used DVD Flick just to burn a DVD format but still have the orientation problem - can't be watching the tv with my head turned 90 degrees...

try one of these, no 8 has the best reviews.
http://www.techradar.com/news/software/ ... ad-1136264 which ever one your interested in do a google on it and get some further info on it. i doubt you will be able to remove the advertising or logo as it is freeware.
if you are just looking to burn clips without editing the footage then try sothink dvd maker and it will take pretty much any ext.
dvd players have come on an awful lot mate and you can get one in powercity for €18 that takes an s/d card or usb, just put the lot on one of those and let her belt away till her hearts content :D

What red till die said is true. Alternatively you can buy a media player. They're not expensive anymore and comes with nice interfaces as well. Beats spending time, converting to DVD format IMHO.

Sony Vegas and Final Cut Pro are 2 popular movie editing softwares. Also Adobe Premier.

I think Nero converts movs most of the time, if not try Handbrake. Also a useful flv converter is Leawo, not movs I know but since you wish to convert files go with that.

I sense you need a burner so start with Nero, thereafter you'll end up asking or googling how to convert X format into Y format.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
