Well Van Der Vaart is no box to box midfielder

Someone like Diame , even Lallana , could even look at someone like Pastore who isn't getting a game at the moment. Bender from Bayer.

As well we didn't go for that Fernandhino who I am convinced is a spoof player.

Hes not looked £30m in his opening efforts for Man City that's for sure :laugh:

You have to be careful with money no doubt about it and some of these agents must be
magicians in pulling off these deals.

That said is cant be too hard to upgrade Lucas surely but I just don't think its a position Rodgers
really cares about that much to be honest.

Diame keeps being mentioned on this forum but he is a pretty ordinary player. Wigan didn't renew his contract and the best club he could find when he was available on a free was a team that just got promoted. Even if you believe the reports about his heart issues that's pretty daming.

I don't think our midfield balance is anything close to be being perfect but that will be the case until Gerrard retires as Rodgers clearly believes the pluses he brings to the team far outway the negatives.

In regards to Lucus, how many number 6s are there in the league that are better than him? Carrick? Barry? Garcia? Mikel? Arteta? Sandro? Some of them are better passers but he is arguably better than all of them at protecting the centre backs. Unless we can find another Alonso I'd stick with Lucus.

diame is not ordinary, every time he plays against us he just brushes our CM`s aside.
barca and real madrid were heavily linked with him when he was playing for rayo vallecano in spain but were put off by his health issues.

No doubt he is a strong lad and when he gets up a head of steam he's hard to stop but he doesn't have an awful lot more to his game. Gives the ball away a lot and seems to have very little tactical nous. He's a limited player playing for a limited team IMO and I would doubt the credibility of any links to big clubs. There is real clamour for big black midfielders like Toure and Vieira but those two have/had world class technical and tactical ability and can pass as well as anyone.

nah mate, he`s no alonso but his passing is no worse than lucas`s. i`d much rather have diame in our squad than allen.
