i know what your saying but i really hope we dont get martinez mate.
at the moment everything about the club is just a bit uninspiring, signing a perennial relegation battler like martinez isnt going to really change that perception.
look at chelsea, they had a terrible season in the league and finished outside of the top 4, what do they do? they sign hazard from under the noses of city and united and they are being linked with guardiola as manager. they are being heavily linked with falcao and hulk too.
and we are going to counter that by getting the wigan manager in?
i really hope martinez is the real deal but i just know that if united, city, chelsea or arsenal were looking for a new manager he wouldnt be in the running.
i also know that if this was happening at another club, for example if arsenal or chelsea finished 6th, 7th and 8th in consecutive seasons and then signed the wigan manager i`d be thinking to myself they are in managed decline.
appointing someone like klopp sends out the message that we are still in the fight.

I totally understand where you are coming from mate and everything you have said is true! Klopp would be a signal of intent but martinez has a system of setting in place from top to bottom a club wich plays with the same priciples as liverpool teams gone by. I know that losing to Utd, city, spurs or even worse a reading of this world is not acceptable and we should be aiming higher than we are at the moment but after the hicks and gillett era that ripped the heart and soul out of this club, we are not coming from any position of strength! look at spurs, they put redknapp incharge and went from relegation candidates to a team full of stars in 2 seasons! bale was a struggling leftback who couldn't get a game and benitez had an offer from spurs of £6m and he's yours! modric was deemed lightweight for the prem but now is one of the most wanted by a top club! who had redknapp managed before spurs? he managed west ham, he managed portsmouth etc etc! all teams who have played well enough but never set the league on fire! wenger was an unknown from france who was managing a team in japan? fergie was managing at aberdeen! mohrinio managed a team in portugal who won the CL, a cocky guy who seemed able to talk the talk at a smaller club but could he do it at a big club? all of the above came in and did it! what im trying to say is i know Man Utd chelsea, man city and arsenal would not go for martinez now but we are not coming from any position of strength! we are in the "we need to take a chance" on someone saloon and martinez isn't the worst option. Thats all im say, i can understand where your coming from though and i do agree, but im looking from the point of view that the club has moved on from the dark days, the next step is important and whatever gets decided we should just back the guy and get on with it???

Because his name rhymes with Kop

Not the greatest source (misleading headline?) but does seem to be linked to the rumour my friend provided yesterday. Interesting they say it’s now a two horse race between Klopp and one other. When my friend wakes up and I’ll ask if he has heard anything else.
