It's this kind of support that makes our club so special and so unique, we're clearly the greatest football supporters the world will ever see. We don't write off our managers even before they've managed the team in their debut match. We don't slate owners for making tough calls or big decisions. No, we'll always support till the bitter end and no we don't send people twitter messages telling them they have less credibility than the Venky's.

If he can sign genuine quality and have us playing some fantastic football with positive results and plenty of progression then his appointment will be a success and us supporters will be happy, I don't think appointing Martinez is a great risk to the club. The people who say he's relegation fodders are simply ignorant to the hardships faced with trying to avoid relegation.

Who is he going to attract? Moses and Maloney from the JJB? Are they going to be better than Downing and Henderson?

The man is talented of course and his team play decent football but really he has no experience of managing a club of Liverpool's size nor the expectation that comes with it. Arry Redknapp hadn't won titles or taken teams to the top four when he got the Spurs job (only the FA Cup) but he had the managerial experience to deal with the pressures of the job. Martinez also has no experience of working with top players he wasn't even one himself a lower league Spanish player, with no international caps and a career in England with Walsall, Chester and Swansea among others.

Martinez being a candidate for a club of Liverpool's size and eighth position this season comparatively would be like Tonly Pulis from a mid-table team being a candidate for Old Trafford. When we finished eighth in 93/94 would we really have put Brian Horton or George Burley on the shortlist to replace Souness because 'they'd kept their teams up'?

FSG will only be able to confidently sell a Martinez appointment to the fans or the likes of McAteer and Fairclough on LFCTV if someone like Van Gaal is appointed DOF. Even then I would still fear a repeat of the Comolli/Kenny fiasco because Martinez would probably prefer to buy cheap British players.

This game of "Who's the best supporter?" is really getting old fast.

Yourself and Benny need to knock that sh*t off. I cant be alone in noticing the lack of traffic on this site recently, Im sure its in no small part to having to read through petty tit for tat squabbles in every thread.

KEEP IT TO F*CKING FOOTBALL. (or at least make it funny)  :D

I'm probably the worst supporter you'll meet, so I am not playing any games of "I'm the better supporter". I just cannot believe that people are writing off a potential manager, even before he has managed a game of football. It's disgraceful and it's this lack of support that is ruining our club.

No doubt it'll be a hard sell to convince the masses that Martinez is the man for the job, but I dont think we need to worry about him being able to attract top players because for me its a myth that players will only come to a club if the manager is someone they know and respect - they'll sign because they'll be getting a massive pile of cash and Liverpool are still one of the elite names in world football.

he`s not quite our manager yet lad, anyway i did the same with roy, before he was appointed i ripped his record to shreds but in the end i was one of the very few saying 5 months is nowhere near long enough at a club to put your own stamp on it and i was like a lone voice in the wilderness saying he wouldnt be the first manager in history to have a bad start but turn it around.
and i`m not on twitter so i havent got a clue what you are on about.

Mate, as I said earlier today just because someone supports a club in a different way than you doesnt make them wrong. Once you have that emotional investment in something no one has a right to tell you how to experience it. We may have differences of opinion but none of us are right or wrong. So much of what we choose to believe in football, hell in life in general is subjective. Ultimately we are all equally clueless when it comes to what in the hell is really going on, we may as well just sit back, raise a smile and go with the flow.  :;):

Best thing I've read in here in ages.
Martinez certainly isn't my choice especially when your replacing a King, however if he gets the gig he have my full support

well, now i do prefer maritnez than avb.
one aspect that we drop avb maybe 1) he failed to manager the stars at chelshkt ie terry (carra) and lampard (gerrard)
2) he think tat he is a great manager and dont show much keen in managing lfc. that turns us off.
well, an acid test on martinez - the players he will sign. we'll see.

Right. What makes a Liverpool Supporter is the love they have for the club. Everything else builds from there.
