Ok, but what about Rafa telling the players they dont sign a new contract until he does?

I really liked Rafa and was sad to see him go.  I think he's a great manager and kept us in a great position despite the owner's worst efforts.  That said, it would be best if we got some fresh blood in.  I think it needs to be the owner's man, even though there seems to be a ground swell of support for Rafa.  There has to be a point when the club starts looking forward and not back, as scary as that sounds, it has to be the way "forward".

obviously some sort of political game with the yanks, god knows what sort of internal wrangles were going on behind the scenes back then, i dont blame benitez for using tactics like that, i dont know what he was trying to do but if we had all the info what was going on at the club at the time i`m sure there would be a method to his madness.

like comoli? wasnt he the owners man? then again i think he was billy beane`s man.
we cant afford anymore f**k up`s mate, if this next manager is a flop we`ll be looking at our 5th manager in 3 years and FSG`s credibility will be in tatters.

He knew by this time he had the supporters on his side. Whatever he did, he wouldn't be blamed. And he took full advantage of the situation. Even now, supporters like yourself don't blame him. He knew this. But the simple fact is, he held the club to ransom, and is hailed for it. He got his 5 year contract, and went back to his stubborn ways.

This, is why he shouldn't be rehired, when it came to the crunch, he looked after himself.

24h update - and a big change with AVB currently big favorite at  4/7. Where the hell did Ancelotti come from, surely he's not going to leave PSG so soon? I'd imagine there would be a lot of compensation. Van Gaal would be an excellent call as well. And lets not forget Bielsa hanging on at 40/1.  What about Van Gaal as DoF, backing up Martinez or AVB - could that work?

Yesterday                          Today
Roberto Martinez         2 AVB 4 to 7
Andre Villas-Boas 2 Roberto Martinez 5 to 2
Michael Laudrup 5 Carlo Ancelotti 7
Brendan Rodgers 6 Brendan Rodgers 10
Rafael Benitez 8 Louis van Gaal 16
Fabio Capello 16 Fabio Capello 16
Frank Rijkaard 16 Frank Rijkaard 16
Louis van Gaal 20 Didier Deschamps 18
Didier Deschamps 12 Rafael Benitez 20
Harry Redknapp 25 Jurgen Klinsmann 25
Brend Schuster 28 Roberto Di Matteo 28
Martin ONeill 33 Frank de Boer 33
Paul Lambert 28 Josep Guardiola 33
Jose Mourinho 33 Harry Redknapp 40

Jurgen Klopp 33 Jurgen Klopp 40

looked after himself? are you having a laugh lad? he could have sat there on his big fat salary and said f**k all while the yanks dimantled the club behind the scenes but he fought them tooth and nail. if he was only @rsed about his job why would he have a big run in with the other two ***** ? we were a day away from going under with those pair of ***** in charge, he was taking them on.
i cant believe you`ve even said that.

There my memories of the man an all Kharhaz ,That is why i fought every tom dick an harry on here while he was here and after he got hounded out, If i wasnt for him  opening his gob we might not of had a club to support , But rather than some well lots when we tried telling people at the time , lots decided to put there head in the sand and ignore what he was trying to do and say , but look what happend they got rid and brought the owl in . fol, the man loves this club just like you and me , he wants whats best for this club and us fans even Kennys own son has come out and said hes the man for the job. but these yanks are clueless were becoming a laughing stock with whats going on , they want into the top four and yet there looking at Bobby Martinez, the man who can get them there is in Xaldy waiting for a calll, . Pick the phone up an call him yeh bas, stards

As of 24/5/2012, this is the Market for the next Lpool manager.

Image

Hopefuly Van Gaal get the Technical Director Role, although there are articles on-line saying he is itching to manage.

Although Klopp has said he is happy in Germany, He is still yo-yoing in the betting market, anywhere between 10/1 and 16/1, so he is not far away. Van Gaal and Klopp would be awesome imo.

Rafa seems to be drifting and is rarely in single-figure odds. But he is an overwhelming Fans favourite.

BUT.... Martinez just wont go away from favouritism. I fear he may be installed.

Martinez is favourite because he is the only one the media and fans know for a fact will be talking to the owners. He will remain favourite unless we find out about others having talks with the club. All the other “info” about other managers is just weak internet rumours, and the bookies know it.

Klopp seems to be making a bit of a comeback with the bookies.
