I'm really worried about the names that seem to be front runners as our next manager. I'm light years away from thinking Martinez has what it takes to manage a club with our history and expectations. Now Capello seems to be coming up on the rails, F'uck please God NO !!!!!!, successful ? yes he has been but imo not the character/personality I would want at the helm of LFC.

It could be a step backward, we could be making the same mistake as some think we did with the appointment of Kenny BUT I still think it's time to

BRING BACK RAFA

Under new owners the fella deserves another tilt at taking us to where we belong.

Herad that senile old tw@t John Motson on the radio last night saying bringing Rafa back would be "retrograde to say the least". What an utter moron.

thats looking way too far into the future, at one point in rafa`s tenure the club were talking about signing him up for 20 years and rafa was laughing and joking about it in a press conference, 12 months later he was having a public slanging match in the papers with new owners.
that much can happen in footy that planning to have someone at the club for 15 years is a ludacrous idea.

i wouldnt go for AVB, he`d be under way too much pressure.
apparently his own train of thought according to the papers is that if he f**ked up at liverpool he would probably never get the chance to manage a big club in england again, he doesnt want to effectively end his career here at 35 before it`s really got started and thats why he`s taking his time over the decision wether to throw his hat into the ring or not.
you add that `my career in england is on the line` pressure to the big pressure that comes with the job anyway plus a restless fanbase because of dalglish`s sacking and you`ve got a lot of weight on an inexperienced managers shoulders.

It depends on the work environment in the end, at Chelsea the average age was pretty high and players like Terry and Lampard are known to be closer to the owners than the manager, so they dictate what goes on. At Liverpool it's different, we have some young and hungry players that want to prove themselves, we don't have big egos and AVB might find himself in a better working environment to put his thoughts through. Plus with a DOF coming in he might get the support he needs that he never got at Chelsea. I agree there is tremendous pressure on him to succeed but you can't forget his work at Porto, he's done a remarkable job there and has a great tactical brain, same as Rafa's maybe. The only reservation I have for the fella is his man management, is he good at managing his players? Treating them well? I'm skeptical, but I would take him over Martinez any day

I'm also hearing rumours that Harry Redknapp may potentially get on the list as many of the candidates that FSG et al had identified have ruled themselves out.

Capello's boasts a great CV, you can't even deny what he has won with various clubs. He is a top coach in every sense and been one of the best coaches in the last 20 years. He also has nothing to lose, this might be his last big job of his career so he will be determined to get it right. He also has a disciplined personality that would help his team get into shape better and get Liverpool to fight better. Plus he looks unfazed with pressure and expectation, very self confident and demand the respect of his players.

He will make Liverpool play better, fantastic choice if we do appoint him. Like I said FSG should consider Rafa and Capello as their first choice

AVB needs to get a few years more experience under his belt imo, he`s only managed for 3 years and one of those was at chelsea.
not being a great player or even a player is not really a problem if you have age on your side, with age comes respect, AVB`s problem is that he wasnt a player and he`s the same age as some of the players (he`s 3 months older than carragher)
people, especially young men, dont tend to like being told what to do by people their own age. if AVB was 45 i dont think he`d have a problem.
i can see exactly whats happened in the chelsea dressing room, he`s been shouting at players who have won league titles and won world cups for defensive f**k up`s or missing easy chances and the first thing they are thinking is `who the f**k are you? you cant even kick a ball straight`
AVB didnt just fall out with terry and drogba, by the sounds of it his biggest bust up was with fernando torres, a player known for being laid back and someone who keeps himself to himself. to this day torres is raging about his treatment under AVB, and he`s not the only one.
i think AVB knows he is young and that he hasnt got the playing record that would give him instant respect amongst his peers so he tries to make up for that by looking like a strong personality. doing that can get peoples backs up like it did at chelsea.
make no mistake we have a few big characters here ourselves, the likes of carragher, gerrard, suarez, agger, reina, carroll etc arent shrinking violets.
imo AVB needs to get about 7 or 8 more years experience elsewhere before he starts managing superstar multi millionaire players who have done everyting in the game and have ego`s the size of their bank accounts.

Why even consider AVB if he's afraid he's gonna F*** up? That's hardly the confident, dynamic young world beater we're looking for is it? These f***ers are holding us to ransom. Second and third tier, unproven managers playing hard to get? The whole scenario is starting to stink of desperation and everyone's picking up the scent. Fair enough it could all be media and journalism with no real truth in it, but the fact that FSG are prepared to allow these rumours, and prepared to leave the fanbase in the dark on it all is far from encouraging.

If AVB drags his heels, tell him to f*ck off. If he's afraid he's gonna mess up and ruin his carreer, well that's cos he ain't good enough and has no self belief after what Chelski did to him. He's a lil wuss and belongs about 6,000,000 miles away from the sacred Anfield throne.

I'd have thought he'd be chomping at the bit to prove himself. The fact that he isn't says enough for me.

Problem is there's no one at LFC with an standing to 'sell' the club to a new manager! Everyones' gone, all cleaned out over the last 3 years. After Ayres, thjere's no one, no football experinece, the new manager will walk into a managementless environment. How alien for LFC to described so.

For me it should really be Rafa.

He wants the job, has a fantastic CV and is still relatively young.

the whole thing has been a farce. if they had someone lined up then fair enough but this "scattergun approach" isn't doing the club any favours.

Capello's 65. We don't need short-termism followed by yet another 5 year plan rebuilding project with a new manager. I don't give a Sh*t if we don't win anything for the next few years, as long as we're laying the foundations for a sustained return to the top level, with stability at ownership, board and manager level - that is what we should be aspiring to. I think the owners know that. Of course the next manager is unlikely to for 15 years (I hope he is though, because it will mean he's successful), and of course I'm not saying he should have a contract for that long, but what is ludicrous is to appoint someone whose going to be here for 2-3 years and then retire. I'm sure you know who last managed us for a 15 year stint?

the club dont want to even interview him mate
it`s a joke really, he is basically being punished for performing miracles here.
what i want to know is who is advising the club? probably some london consultancy firm full of university educated whoppers who grew up playing tennis and watching the boat race.
i think i`d rather have billy beane back calling the shots.
