We're not Wigan so theres no chance we'll be scrapping for survival. It might be risky but it could just work in our favour. Imagine if he has a good first season in charge and then goes on to improve us season after season. He is young. We could actually be looking at a long term manager here that could if backed by FSG properly, turn out to be very successful.

Very true mate, but as depressing as I sound, what happens if the coin toss lands on tails instead of heads? I feel we need someone strong, someone experienced, with a vast array of knowledge in all aspects of the game. A proven and tested man who will unite the players and the fans. A strong, inspiring leader. These lower table managers may have good credentials on paper, but I seriously question their pyscological ability to manage a team like ours, or to get the best out of the players. I also strongly doubt their ability to persaude the type of players we need. I'd imagine it will be more bargain shopping with perhaps a gem or two unearthed in the pile of unknowns that we cast aside.

Yep Brendan Rodgers turned us down   We really are damaged goods

Seriously though I think Rodgers is being pragmatic about the situation and realizes that he doesnt yet have the necessary experience to take a job as massive as the Liverpool one. Fair play to the man for that.

I agree it is frustrating. I was gutted when I heard Kenny had been sacked. We played some great football, the only thing that let us down was poor form from most of the new players and pure bad luck. I have never known a season like the one we have just had. Kenny stabilised the club, got us playing good football again, and got us to two cup finals. So yeah, its frustrating.

But we have to move on. And whoever comes in be it Martinez who I wouldn't mind, or Rafa who I would mind, we have to support (I include the board with this) the new man otherwise we are going to be in this situation every other season and going nowhere quick.

I will always support us and whoever sits in the chair. It's in our blood, right? And one of the most frustrating parts is that we know it's a love affair that will last forever. That's the toughest part of all. Employing Martinez would, in my eyes, be a terrible and bewildering decision. It feels almost like an arranged marriage must feel! Here on this forum is the only say on the matter that I can have about who our next "love" is.

Rogers is the big man at Swansea, he's worshipped by the masses and by turning us down he gains even more points which he'll probably need next season when he's fighting for survival and they go down.

Exactly! We are now officially a laughing stock.
Rodgers has just knocked us back; cue the floodgates opening on how desperate and sh'it we are that the manager of swansea fu'cked us off!
Just had a message saying Martinez is right up our street as hes used to fighting relegation

I think Rodgers is a decent candidate.

But I think he tunred us down, and others will too, for the following reason...

This very public way we are going about things, approaching a shortlist and interviewing that shortlist of around twelve candidates if reports are to believed, will put managers off.  If you are currently in a job and going well, as Rodgers is, and you accept Liverpool's approach to be interviewed for the job and you don't get it, how is that going to sit with your current club and it's fans?!  'I'm still here because I didn't get the Liverpool manager's job' and it will all be public knowledge because of the way we are going about things.

The final shortlist should be 3 or 4 candidate tops and try to speak to them, but do it behind closed doors, FFS SSN are giving us updates by the hour here.

I wonder if this is all a bit of a smokescreen. Or perhaps the owners are just teasing us, throwing a name out there then logging into here to laugh at our comments

If we get Pep or Hiddink or Rijkaard the rest of the league will sh!t themselves. A big big name like them will show our intentions.
