it definately 100% wont be benitez now with these new structures that have been announced.
we are getting 2 DoF`s, 1 for player development and 1 for the admin side, they will work alongside the new manager or `coach`
it`s going to be a yes man, they want someone who can work as a part of a management team.
it`s going to be a farce

Starting to realise that myself mate ...listen to how disillusioned  James McKenna of S.O.S sounds

Depressing feeling of deju vu about this just like when Rafa was given his marching orders.

While I think Kenny should have been given another season despite a disappointing year.

I can understand the owners especially in these Roman big money days of this league making a decision to replace him.

However if you going to do replace the King, it has to be with another King. Not a respected Knight or a up and coming squire

No disrepect to Martinez but its  a step down for me if media reports are true we are chasing him

Now if this rumour proves to have any substance then it really is the owners sailing close to the edge ,didnt Hicks attempt a similar thing with Klinsman ?

classy lot this crowd, discussing kenny`s job while he`s still in it, nice to see one of the greatest figures in this clubs history, a man who once went to 4 funerals in one day as liverpool manager, was treated with the reverence he deserved.

What an outstandingly stupid comment

at least it was for me, i celebrated when Rafa was sacked, finally an ugly episode ended but that was before they appointed Roy.
and enlightened me again, why  was he sacked few mths later by Inter again?
and mind you, Inter dominated the Seria A after Juve was relegated and previous year they won the champs league and title with mourhino, suddenly with the same squad under Rafa they were a mid table team. again he lost the Inter dressing room.
and you wan to appoint him again? you are beyond stupidity, down to retarded level.

few rags running with Pep now. I was hoping Txiki was in, at least that would shed some light on the situation. These Yanks better know what they're doing

Still fookin' fuming that KK was sacked. I'm all for having Rafa back - I liked his youth policy; he got results.....and his downfall was the b0llix that went on with the owners. I think he has unfinished business with LFC. Bring him back, I say....

Hear Ye, Hear Ye

All threads relating to the potential new manager have been merged into this one to keep the discussion from splintering.  Keep calm and carry on, as the kids are saying these days.

Looks like they're going to appoint Martinez. I for one is totally and absolutely against it. The guy may come out good one day but without exposure to European football and winning trophies, it is a BIG RISK and a risk not worth taking for a big club like Liverpool. For a team like Villa or any mid table side to appoint him is a good move. But for Liverpool we need to go for someone who has experience in the CL and winning trophies, people like Capello, Rijkaard, AVB etc.

We appointed a mid table manager in Hodgson 2 years ago, now we're appointing a low table manager in Martinez. Tell me, Mr.Henry and Mr.Werner, are you guys suppose to be taking the club forward or backward? Are you guys out of your mind? :veryangry

I agree with you mate but they are limited by low cost/expectation options if they intend to build a new stadium. There's no way Maureen/AVB/Capello will be appointed as their wish list would be financially crippling.

So we're going for a more acceptable version of Woy.

And yes, I'm fuming as well Bungle, once again we find ourselves exposed to the world as being completely without any strategy - no succession plan etc... We have a new manager, a 12 month coach, a new CEO coming + 2 other directors etc... feck's sake lads, LFC looks more like a chinese takeaway these days that the bedrock of stability it used to be. This is unsustainable, we're just becoming another Villa or Bolton.

Rafa not for me - don't see why we would consider that as it's a step backwards. Just hope we get someone who can take us forward.

Personally have mixed feelings on Kenny, heart says he should have had another year, head says it was the right decision.
Results in league were terrible, 37 points off the top and level with Fulham, Some of the performances were terrible too, check out the match threads.
His dealings with the media at times were witty and a pleasure - at the end though they made me cringe.
Nice to win something, so thanks for that.

Let's just see who we get in.

For the people who say we don't have a plan - how do you know?

I know nothing has been announced but its looking like Martinez isnt it?

If it is then its all a little baffling, what worries me is he the type of manager to take us forward? Is he the type of manager that can sell a vision to the worlds best players to draw them to the club?

Its ok being a decent manager, but that isnt enough, we need someone who has a reputation in world football....... Someone who knows players, leagues etc

Nothing against Martinez but he imo is not the man we need.

It's ironic you're saying that. I understand your passion for Kenny but I don't get why you have to be so antagonistic towards other managers like Rogers or Martinez. I don't see them as the solution, as I would prefer Rafa among the 3, but I don't give them the Hodgson treatment. I do agree with you that FSG made a mistake though. Their mistake was appointing Kenny on a long-term basis instead of searching for a proper long-term manager. Kenny isn't capable of being a manager today for various reasons which has been posted on this boards. If the situation was reversed, and Hodgson be the man who won us 6 home games a season, and saw teams like WBA and Wigan win at Anfield for the first time, or in ages, you would be calling for his head. That's hypocrisy at it's best, sorry mate, I just don't see the quote "No man is bigger then the club" being put into effect here. Even if it was my idol Fowler coming into the managerial position in 10 years' time, and he does an awful job, I would be more inclined to think without sentiments. And that's the biggest difference between you and I - you think with your heart, I look at facts. Football is a results orientated game, and back in the ages when Kenny was successful, money and European qualification wasn't a factor. But if it came down to Rogers or Martinez though, who will you rather have? Would you consider AVB?

I am not so sure, he comes across very well to me - and that's important as there were times Kenny didn't.

It's impossible to say - he is a good up and coming young manager - how he would cope with being manager at LFC it's hard to say, but if
he is the choice we need to support him and get behind the team.
It looks as though we will be talking to other candidates too though.
