Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

You mean Thread not threat... :D

the ever reliable Tony Barrett from the time is saying Capello and Guardiola are in FSG's top list

so the candidate list looks like this for now:
- Martinez
- Benitez
- Capello
- Guardiola
- Brenden Rogers

Since the new manager apparently will have greatly reduced power in the club i think we can safely remove benitez and capello from the list.
I dont understand why we even try to get guardiola as he has made it clear he is taking a break from football.

Don't get me wrong mate I like Martinez's qualities and his general demeanour ,I admire his football philosophy, and I believe his pursuit for perfect attacking
football will go on ,but I think we're opting for the shallow end of the pool here if we honestly believe our board will give him the patience and backing even
through his failures ...One thing that does concern me is his total lack of emphasis on defence ,having watched Wigan I just feel the need for his defenders
to constantly push up causes me serious consternation ....That said ,I too believe Rafa would be the most viable option .

mate for a start appointing someone like martinez would just be a slap in the face to kenny.
apart from that martinez has never worked in a high pressure environment like liverpool, if he loses a game at wigan no one gives a f**k, he gets a pat on the back and a `better luck next week rob`, no one gives a f**k where wigan are until the end of the season when people suddenly become interested in who goes down.
if you lose a game with liverpool it`s a major thing, you go into a press conference, the press want to know why you picked such and such and not that other player, they want you to comment on an article in the dutch press where one of your players says you havent got a clue what your doing, they want you to comment on an article in a south american paper that was written by the agent of your star player saying he`s going to sign for barcelona in the summer, they want to know if you`ll publically lambast your players for their performance today, they ask you if you noticed the owners leaving early, they ask you if you want to comment on alex fergusons recent remarks that maybe the liverpool job came a bit early for you, someone in the press remarks that you dont look great, you look a bit tired, they wonder if your sleeping well, they ask if you think that the senior players in the dressing room have 100% confidence in your methods, when you reply yes the lads are right behind me they all look at each other knowingly and start to smile, one of them quickly changes the subject and  asks if you have seen the results from the other games today etc etc etc
it`s a totally different world, martinez has never dealt with that type of pressure day in day out.

Listen mate ? I am just as distraught as you at the sacking of Dalglish and I have in no way advocated anyone to replace him ...and I mean anyone .
I would have gone to war for the man ,so you need to be conversing with the posters who believe better options are available ..because I vehemently
don't  .

Barrett didn't say Guardiola is coming he just said he is on the list of candidates, understandable when he is out of job.
