Dunno how people can be overly critical of the guy, we parked the bus after we scored and he had a thankless task all game long pretty much. He had one solid effort then we got the pen and after that we didn't do anything offensively.

I was discussing this the other day at the Newcastle game .

I share your opinion that he WAS NOT Kenny's choice. How else do you explain how KD is only playing him when Suarez isn't available ?

What fans forget is that when Torres left and Carroll arrived Kenny was 4 weeks into a TEMPORARY contract ! No way would Kenny have had the say so on a replacement for Torres.

Call it low on confidence, unlucky, not had a run in the team etc.......but to my mind he simply doesn't look good enough.

I still remember the day I watched Alonso make his debut at Bolton away and although we lost you could tell in opening 10 minutes we had bought ourselves a blinder !

My point is that the very very best players don't need a break, they create their own luck !

Had a tough job tonight with very little support, but my God his first touch and passing are an absolute joke. The ball just seems to rebound of him every time, he needs a lot of work thats for sure.

Oh, nothing is his fault. Somebody else decided to do just that mistake....

its pretty logical if you think abt it.
Kenny was still "temporary" caretaker manager when Carroll was signed.
Commolli is permanent football director.
who do you think was most likely to make the decision?

if i place a gun to your head and you must make a life/death decision to guess who made the decision, you most probably say Commolli was the one to sign Carroll.

he looks like Bambi trying to walk, his first touch last night was diabolically sh!te. I want to hope he comes good but £15m would be robbing Newcastle nevermind what we paid

It will be a very painful & annoying journey if we keep Andy in the first team. I can't think of a more frustrating experience than watching this guy struggle to do anything right on the pitch not to mention his inability to stand upright. He has to be the worst signing in Liverpool's history. Fook off back to Newcastle!

people keep forgetting when Kenny or whoever signed Carroll they were signing a player that was bang on top of his form, scoring for fun and a monster of a player. Now he hasn't clicked at Liverpool your all jumping on Kenny's back for signing a sh!t player? come on folks, the Carroll that Kenny signed was a fantastic Carroll. The one that turning up week in week out is nothing short of pants. but that not Kenny's fault is it?

Who gives a toss who to blame , there has been plenty of big money flops by Fergie , The Special one and others

I love to see him come good but more then likely he going to be a expensive flop and sooner or later we will have to cut our losses.

That just part of the game, the mistake would be to perceive with him just because of his price tag

I seem to remember LFC were signing a player who was injured! Rafa tried that one with Aquilani. I know exactly what you are saying Roger but £35m for a 21 year old with limited Premeiership experience and serious off the field problems including falling off bar stools was a massive risk.

Carroll in the first half of the 2010/2011 season had hit some form and managed to score a few goals playing ugly football.He scored 11 in 18 which is impressive until you look at the breakdown.Three of those goals were against a very poor Villa.Four of the goals were against mostly relegation battlers. The other four goals were against Chelsea,Arsenal,Man City and ourselves which has to be admired but it is simply not good enough reason to pay £35m. This is not hindsight.Take a look at the first couple of pages in this thread and you will very quickly realise that a lot of fans were not impressed with either Andy Carroll or the price tag.

Carroll has proved he can score goals at a certain level and I just wonder if he is more of a Championship player.

By the way, folks should read Carroll's wiki profile concerning his character before claiming he is a stable kind of guy.

Bingo... we signed a player who played for a direct long ball team that catered to his limitations. He is Bambi on the floor hence they played it in the skies. Guiterriez swinging it in from the wing, Nolan launching diagonal balls upfront, Barton from the dead ball swinging it into the box constantly (free-kicks often from very deep). The bitters used to play this way with Duncan Ferguson. Newcastle bypassed midield, it was direct, in and around the box, and the limited big fella either just had to get his head on it, or hope for a ball to drop for him. These methods are midtable standard at most, and when he left they started to play it more in midfield, more build up, more passing, and their performances and results have naturally improved.

To leave a direct long ball environment that catered to his limitations, and take a step up to a team that plays it on the floor, was far too big a step for him. He has joined an alien environment that demands so much more, which has left him badly exposed. He never looked like Bambi at Newcastle because they never made him look like Bambi... we do.

Yesterday... yes in the second half we did play 9 men against the ball... and its in this scenario when u need the lone frontman to be able to trap the ball, control it, lay it off (keep possession, and take pressure off the defence)... he was incapable of any of this. Its asking far too much from him. No one was expecting him to score in the 2nd half...what is expected is to be able to control the ball and retain possession, lay it off.. which THEN builds attacks. Because we had no attack builder upfront, we THEN created nothing. Andy Carroll never does anything in the build up, hes limited, so in games where build up is required he is anonymous. He needs to play in a one dimensional side that caters to his limitations.. and thats why Stoke would be a perfect fit (not just long direct balls into the box infield, but also throw ins). Thats all he has ever been used to...its actually unfair on him to put him in an environment that asks too much.
