Even if there was a bid, the 'sources' said it was £23m at most, but we paid £35m FFS. There wasnt any real competition for andys signature, we clearly made a panic buy and fcked up.

Has he helped us progress?

Spurs threw out no stories of the sort.
Mate, Tottenham don't pay 20+ million for players, not yet anyway, and with respect, given this stance there was no way we were going to do it on an unproven Championship player.
If anyone leaked those stories it was NUFC in an attempt to bump the price up.
As for 'pessimistic' Spurs fans.
Not us mate.

He has the touch of a trampoline at times and despite protests from the Pro Carroll camp that we don't play to his strengths it's difficult to see exactly where those strengths lie.
In the air ? Maybe. On the floor ? Most definitly not !
I think we may have been sold a "pig in a poke"

The awful touch when put clear by Gerrard.. summed him up in a nutshell. Glenn Roeder has the answer to his lack of talent though, "you're cr@p on the floor, go watch some DVDs of Owen lad"Its not just his terrible technique its how slow and cumbersome he is. Very rarely is he up with the play...at newcastle he just waited up near the box for long balls launched skyward to him and far less running was required.

Absolutely.
Tabloid rumours are just that.. rumours, there was no bid, there was never a yellow ticker going across the SSN "spurs bid 23m"..cause it never happened. Im still waiting for Spurs to use up that cash they apparently had (oh they didnt have any?.. but but). The Newcastle director.. the one who said "Carroll is worth f**k all" ...has played an absolute blinder in fleecing us of over 20 million than the players worth. This new Financial Fair Play angle.. as an attempt of some sort of justification for throwing away money.. smacks of utter desperation. Why didnt every club go on a mad shopping spree last January then? More nonsense. We look stupid in trying to play down this crazy transfer. Hes a 15 million pound player in todays inflated market...if he was a foreigner he would be around 5m.. and hes a player who makes us worse. Those are the bare facts.
