Devaney you said his appalling 20 min appearance agains Villa do please tell me exactly what he did in those 20 mins that was so appalling ?

My stats off Carroll go back two seasons and show why Kenny went for him - his goals , they way he terrorised prem defences including ours ( turned over Skrtel and Carra that day ) .

There is no point going through the Hodgson argument again - the proof of Hodgson is what happened last season - the evidence to show why people were concerned about Hodgson was his previous 20 years management .

Players are different from manager , they suffer from form and confidence when they have ability .

Only good supporters want him sold then?

Carroll just doesn't seem to fit in at our club.  He didn't do much wrong in the Villa game to be fair but he also done nothing right.  We just look like a pretty poor side when he is on the field.

If things continue like this until the summer, then we'll have to try and find the right deal for both parties.  Maybe send him on loan or sell him.

Benny please read what I said again which was: And his twenty minute cameo against an appalling Villa did nothing to change my mind about Carroll's lack of ability. He simply doesn't fit into this squad or our style of play .The difference in the team when Suarez went off and Carroll came on was depressingly clear to see. Over to you Benny............ More stats maybe? ???

I can't see anything in what I said that remotely suggests that Carroll had an appalling twenty minutes? ????? I have constantly criticised Carroll's lack of ability and footballing intelligence and I fully stand by that until the day that he does anything to change my mind.Unless I am mistaken it would be reasonable to expect players to be tiring after seventy minutes so you would think that a fresh Carroll would have an even greater chance to impress but that was not the case even against an APPALLING Villa. It is not a case of what he did wrong. It is more a case of what he actually did right.

Quite a strong opinion there
Lets just take one aspect. You say "We just look like a pretty poor side when he is on the field". Are you saying that when Carroll came on Sunday his appearance on the pitch and his performance brought the team down so badly he turned them into a poor side?
Really? Could you explain this please?

Thommo - I don't want to sound like a whinging twelve year old  :) but that is exactly how I saw things. It is almost as if the team have no confidence in the lad and and the overall performance is affected. Could be my imagination because as you know I am not a fan of Carroll. Suarez had an exceptional period in the second half before he went off and that was always going to be a hard act to follow. Perhaps it was simply a combination of things and it is just too easy to blame Carroll's shortcomings.

Its probably in your imagination, but its these sweeping statements that concern me.
We were 2-0 up after 15 minutes and it was another 59 minutes before Carroll came on. We had nearly an hours play where we didnt score before he came on and he was on for approximately 15-20 minutes.
I cant see how we were made poor because he came on. KK has a dilemma, definitely. But we arent doing that bad for a poor side. 18 woodwork hits and counting...

I think what we created in those 59 minutes was important. Suarez hit the bar twice and we went very close on several other occasions. The story was very different after Carroll came on but as I said he may have only been part of the problem.

"He may have only been part of the problem " is a bit different to "We just look like a pretty poor side when he is on the field".
You are now saying that others are responsible for the performance of the team as well as Carroll.
Its easy for people to get carried away once they take a dislike to a player. But even Lucas in his years before he started playing properly couldnt be blamed totally for bad results.

True.  And in Lucas' case he was never as bad as he was made out to be.  I also think he isn't as good as he's being made out to be now.  He has improved, don't get me wrong, I just think his improvements are being overstated a bit.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Our season is f**ked if we have to rely on this carthorse for 8 games. Its what makes the Luis ban worse knowing that theres f*ck all back up. The two City games look a very tall order now.

We have to be looking to sign someone... preferably a quality player on loan.
