Nope they are not wrong, those statistics taken from an index as I posted the link above.

Libya is a dictatorial rule with a person who ruled for 40 years and never allowing any of his people speak about him or against him. I know a few Libyans who were scared to go back because of his rule

so there is a massive difference between a democratic republic that promotes freedom of speech than an authoritarian rule who abolishes it and spread tyranny and corruption to the people

Funny thing, I used to live in such a country, it was called Yugoslavia. It was a bit different from Gaddafi's rule but in general it was the same; one party rule and one leader - Josip Broz Tito. Very controversial and mixed feelings with the people about this kind of rule, even I don't have a firm opinion on the matter, but I'll tell you one thing that I know for certain; all the republics within Yugoslavia lived a better live at that time than they do now as independent countries.

You could say the same thing about parts of the ex-British colonies that decided to go it alone, Kenya is one that springs to mind. They're worse off under their own independence.

Yes, you're right about that. I guess some countries do benefit from being colonies, but I doubt that making life better is the primary concern of those who have these colonies. But, then again, who cares what's their primary concern if life becomes better in those countries who were made colonies.
