I just think talks will and negotiation will continue all day between several clubs and it could go either way at this point depending how those discussions go and if deals can be done that suit everyone.

King Kenny is apparently saying no go.

-----

Kenny Dalglish has reiterated that Fernando Torres is not for sale as speculation intensifies that the striker could be set to leave Liverpool for Chelsea in a £50m deal.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea, who have already seen one bid rejected, are lining up a player-plus-cash deal involving Nicolas Anelka.

But, although Torres has handed in a transfer request, Dalglish insists the club's determination to keep hold of him has not wavered.

"Regards Fernando, it's the same as what the club statement was two or three days ago," he said. "We'll stick to that."

Dalglish remained coy about Liverpool's chances of making a deadline-day transfer to supplement the imminent arrival of Luis Suarez for £22.8 million from Ajax - although he would not be drawn on names. "I would say there's as good a chance of us getting someone else in as there is someone going out.

"We don't want to insult, undermine or anything else anyone else who is another club's player. We don't want to do our business that way."

Newcastle have received a £30m bid from an unnamed Premier League club for Andy Carroll.  Been rejected.  Reported on SSN.

I'm off work today so thought I'd get my posts up to 300 (after just 7 odd years!).  Carroll fits the profile of the kind of players our owners would go for.  A LOT of money for a striker with bags of potential but only half a season in the Premier League.

Not so sure about getting more in the summer.

Which Italian club will spunk up 50 million?
Inter has just bought Pazzini, has Eto'o, Milito and Panev. Milan
have just brought in Ibrahimovic in the summer and has Pato, Robinho, Cassano.

City have just bought Dzeko for 30 million.

Besides the fair play rules goes into effect which will make clubs think twice before splashing out 50 million+.

And our leverage in the summer will be worse, as it will be a new Mash scenario all over. Everyone knows Torres will not sign a new contract and if we don't sell his value will decrease drastically.

He wants to leave, he doesn't want to wait 2-3 years until we might be fighting for titles again.
What is the use of keeping and unhappy player?

Sitting him out for the rest of the season paying his wages is
naive "supporter thinking" which will hurt us both financially and footballing wise.

Just heard on the radio someone saying that if we've bid £30m for Andy Carroll we're mad !! Former footballer didn't recognise his voice.

The news then came that Newcastle have confirmed we've bid £30m and they've turned it down !

That must surely mean the deal has been done !!!

Thank feck Newcastle turned that down. I dont think Torres will go unless we can get one in. Carroll thing suprises me for that money, seems odd we would do that, getting desperate!
