Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Agree with lots of your points teamleader1 but time is not on our side , and we do need to bring another striker in.

Suarez may take time to settle and he can't play in the Europa league .

Maybe we would have kept hold of Babel if we had known , just in case we can't do a deal this window. Which looks very likely given the time constraints.
Plus they'll all add another few million on.

If we sell him now what message does send out about our ambitions to become a major force again?

Tevez, Rooney, and Cesc, all stayed evetually with their clubs, the clubs have ambitions and lossing your top players is not a message of 'ambition'

WE MUST NOT CAVE IN - HE IS CONTRACTED TO US AND THE LFC STATEMENT REMINDS US AND TORRES OF HIS COMMITTMENT.

JUST COS HE WANTS TO GO DON'T MEAN HE CAN !

the club must stay steadfast in this and all of you who are saying, he can go.. well I ask you should we let players go to our rivals, when they have a contract to fulfill.. we can dictate terms - sulk or not - he must stay ! :talktothehand

Good read, thanks for sharing

I think the key things to all of this, in particular the example of Ronaldo that was given, is that it was on Man U's terms when he left and that needs to be the case here as well. If we have no need to sell, I doubt we will and if he still wants out in the summer, we'll get the right price for him.

It's a shame that he doesn't realise what he has with this club and is a sad reflection of the way that the football world works and thinks. I truly hope that he'll rue the day that he made the worst decision of his life...but hey ho

Interesting comment that he has only perked up in the transfer window. I to be honest hadn't spotted that, I was more focussed on what Kenny's influence was. If there is any truth in that, I am less enamoured with him by the minute

Really hoped I'd get up and he'd have released a statement saying it was all his agent's fault and he was sorry.

It seems like the days of Fernando Torres as a Liverpool player are all but over. It's so sad .

:( :( :(

I don't think it's sad I think it will be a relief. We can move on if he stays without signing a new contract the uncertainty will go on until the summer and that could destabilise the team's recovery under Kenny. I say let the little brat go we don't want him anymore he's a money grabbing little **** who's not fit to wear the red shirt. If Shankley was alive today he wouldn't believe his eyes. Torres has lost the right to remain a Liverpool player and should be made to sweat until midnight tomorrow night so that Liverpool extract £70 million from Chelsea for his services or he can rot in Liverpool reserves until May.

sell him and get a replacement asap. its difficult but not impossible. no point having any player within the ranks who doesnt wanna be here. instead of accommodating to him and playing a sulky player just because he is a household name, play one of the youngsters or try out new formations. furthermore, its a good time for fringe players such as Jovanovic and Ngog to stake a claim for the starting berth. too bad Babel has already gone.

On reflection and reading the Guardian - I agree - sell him, secure suarez and get Adam and Young in, that would do us.

BTW contrart to our residnet 'Zidane' looks liek Torres called Gerrard first to say he was leaving befoe transfer request put in.. so no rift there,

I suppose betwen us all, we have tried to rationalsie his decision..

Ola Toivonen (sp) is another striker whom we could land.

I just think it's sad how it looks like ending .
I agree it will be a relief when it's all over , whichever way it goes , but it's another nail in the coffin of the beautiful game.

JimBoardman    I'm not there myself but the consensus seems to be that Torres isn't at Melwood. #LFC #CFC
