Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

crazyhorse wrote:Simply cannot believe some of the stick Torres is getting here. We go on about loyalty, but there is very little loyalty in football anymore. But loyalty is a two way street... how many assurances do you think Fernando has had from the board over the last year that we are going to strengthen and build a team to win him the trophies his talent deserves? And how unfair is it to start giving the lad this level of stick when all he has done is say he would like to leave the club! I think personally its disgusting. Kenny himself has been promoting the club and the dignified way that it treats the supporters and other clubs but some here are not reciprocating this attitude. Do you think he has done this out of petulance or on a whim? NO.. this has been coming and we all knew it.

The lad clearly wants to leave. If he does go, which is by no means certain I wish him all the best and thank him for the effort he has put it over the last four years. And if we hold out for the 50 million in his contract it will be good business, doubling our investment. Also remember that he has been injury prone and has missed a lot of football. Its not that terrible if he goes.

We have been fortunate to have Fernando Torres at the club for four years. He has scored goals and without them really where would we have been?

If the lad is set on leaving we do not know the reason. Only Fernando knows why he wants to leave and has obviously communicated to the club but he is not shouting to the press or throwing tantrums. He is conducting himself properly and should be afforded the respect he deserves.

I like everyone else think that he is being stupid for wanting to leave, but for crying out loud give him a break and show some class!

errrr...

but why now when we have less than 3 days to find a replacement and why to a rival club?

mate... Torres is my current favourite liverpool player bar none but he shot himself in the foot with this one... he deserves the abuse he gets IMHO...

Supposedly there has been a few bust ups between him and Stevie in training and they are on non speaking terms at the moment.  That and that Torres is always in a rush to leave training, I dunno, I could see the bust up though.  Like I've said before over and over, I don't like Stevie as captain.. even if this wasn't true but I think it probably is.

From what I understand (don't shoot messenger if not true) Kenny was working hard to talk FT around last night. That's last I heard.

@JimBoardman Hi Jim. I'm not "ITK" but been told FT is very unhappy with his agent. Person who told me is in position to know.

torres is in spain and will meet with kenny tomorrow to discuss his future #LFC according to rumours

Don't know what to think of this but something is really wrong with this whole situation

I know Lawros been a gobsh!te for the last few years but he said this morning Torres has been very badly advised by his agents, very bad PR and the worng move at the wrong time for Liverpool and Torres.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

In one way he does.. but does all this do anything to make him want to stay?

And we dont know the facts, has be been misrepresented, or given bad advice by his agent?

If he has acted like a K unt then he deserves it, but lets wait for the facts to come out first.

just sell him. who cares. we've seen many great players come and go but we've always survived. there are players such as Turan, Honda, Adam, Johnson, etc whom we can buy. i think the one player whom we should get as a quickfix is Nistelrooy. he should be available for a low price as he wasnt pleased to be denied a move back to Real.

clutching straws, I think its total b*llox, if Torres knows that his Agents are badly advising him he wouldn't have submitted a transfer request.

He wants out and we all know it.

The deed is done and the genie is well and truly out of the bottle though. We know he wants to leave. We know the only club that had expressed interest in signing him was our fierce southern rivals. I have expressed my bewilderment at how quickly some Manc fans were so willing to forgive Rooney so quickly for effectively holding their club to randsom, and I really dont think this is in the same league with the Gerrard/ Chelsea fiasco that was more a product of shambolic upper management from our board and specificly our much maligned Chief Executive at the time (FECKIN PARRY     ) - he has shafted us royally with his timing and choice of club, and those of you who think we're being to hard on the guy really should understand that

RED BEERGOGGLES wrote:Torres fleeing for London, and worse still Chelsea, will anger millions of Liverpool fans who felt they knew a striker that understood the Anfield philosophy, the passion needed to pull on the Red shirt.

Chelsea represents all that Liverpool are not, with their unfettered millions, manufactured Stamford Bridge atmosphere and a history that pales in sorry comparison to that of Liverpool's.
One can easily understand Torres' frustrations at watching a club who he believed would deliver success and fulfillment stumble in recent years.

Brilliant article Redbeer thanks for sharing, the quote above basically summed up why so many Liverpool fans feel betrayed

As a fan I don't want him to go. But as a player, I don't blame him esp. if you're a foreign player. Because one day when you're gettting old and your pace is not as good as your younger days, the day will come when the manager and the board will ask you to come to the office and say something like, "Fernando, you've been a great servant to the club and we appreciate your contribution to the club with your xxx goals. But we're sorry to say that we're not renewing your contract after this season". Every player will be sent to this kind of football guillotine when the club feels they are of no use to the club. So how can you blame them for no club loyalty?

If he wants to go, let him leave in the summer for 60 million pounds and we use the proceeds to buy a few more star players for Kenny (hopefully he'll still be with us) to rebuild the team to challenge Man U. He doesn't look  happy playing for Lvp these days with his utter SULLEN facial expression all the time unlike his blonde hair days when he seemed so cheerful and happy playing for Lvp. We are Liverpool supporters, not Torres or even Kenny supporters who can go and join our rivals.

Though I won't blame him for wanting to leave, but he shouldn't be leaving at a time when Lvp needs him the most and he could have waited till the summer.

I keep hearing from fellow fans that Ancellotti doesn't even want Torres. He does not fit into his plans. Make of that what you will!

This is all feeling bizarre (straight out of a horror flick).

Anyway, if he still wants to go there, then £70mil plus Essien and Anelka thankyou very much.....
