If you don't like hodgson....is there anything - He could do to change your mind?

Mick, you only have started the topic half an hour ago. You are looking for a simple answer, it will never be easy, because as people pointed out it is not only results (or for that matter league position) that count.

My wish is a top 4 achieved with a respectable amount of points and a good show on the field.

As for a cup, it is highly unlikely we will win the FA Cup (just my opinion) so that would leave only Europa League in the picture. I love the european cups but I don't think winning Europa League while languishing in 8-10th place would be enough to keep him at the helm.

My second wish is that he gives normal press conferences with nice attitude but no more f8ck-ups. They are already too numerous to name here, his press mistakes. He should stop.

He needs a similar league finish to last season - at least, if he gets that then he can start to rebuild for next season.

It's not just a number though is it Mick? Is a number going to make him handle his PR affairs better? If it was just a case of results on the pitch he would have people in his corner even now.

So Bav, your answer is more media savvy and you'll warm to him

He should have been more media savvy in the first place. I mean how long has he been around for?

He needs to go, end off. As Igor said if he hasn't shown it by now he probably wont do. I mean look at the sort of clubs he has managed before. Doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it?

A Cup would prob do as well .

Fair enough mate. Get above Spurs, Man City and aston Villa in the league, AND  win our first trophy for five seasons :D.

Should be simple enough.

Did i say AND ?

You asked a question and i answered it - you know how people are going to answer and your obviously going to have a problem with it so why ask it in the first place .

And just to go that one step forward - do i think he will get us into top 4 or win a cup - answer is no - i dont think he will even get us into the top 8 .

dude we're 1 point off 8th at the moment, and weve played most of our top matches....

And ? The football i have seen on the pitch doesnt give me any hope for the rest of the season .

Okay Fair enough. Spurs did deserve it but Liverpool were cat last year resulting in Benitez leaving and Man City changed manager half way through the season.

I agree that that CL AND PREM  could be the down fall of Spurs just like it was with Real Sociedad in 2004 where they finished 15th after nearly winning la liga the year before. CL hopefully will be SPurs downfall like it was with R.Sociedad.

Liverpool still can get 4th place. Look at the table. There is not that big a gap between us and CL football. Whether Hodgson and LFC can do it is hard to call. Thank god I don't make them calls but another season w/o CL will surely set us back a good bit.

Up to Henry to decide the best course of action.

The thing is, I get the impression that even if we beat Chelsea, most people's impressions of the guy won't change. Not unless there is a monumental shift in playing style and general philosophy. If we go out and beat them well then maybe, but unless we start passing the ball a lot quicker and start moving off the ball again, most fans will still not be convinced that we are moving forward.

Funnily enough, it's not going forward that worries me, it's the defence, especially the full backs. We're as weak in that area as I can ever remember.

:Oo: If we finish 7th like last season he should be sacked like Rafa was.

Hopefully he wont last the season and we get some one with pedigree in and our pride back !!!
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

yawn... so if he gets 6th hes better than Rafa? Rafa had longer then 3 months to make his mark. Give him the jan transfer window, see what he can do, see where he can get us

4th as the minimum in the league. A cup final. Working on his PR-skills. I have never seen us play as badly as we have done in the beginning of this season and that needs to be changed. With that I don't mean super offensively just that it looks like we have a plan.

We just sacked a manager because he couldn't live up to our standards and I expect the rest of us to hold Roy up to the same standards.

If he manages the result based goals I'll give him more time. I want to get rid of him as soon as possible and that is not because I'm afraid to be wrong just that I think he can screw it up for us in the long run.

its interesting looking at this thread and looking at the lucas leiva thread. not so very long ago the vast majority of people were slating the player something rotten and would have happily carried him out of anfield on their own backs. in the meantime the lad has knuckled down and put in some very good performances. so much so that many people's minds are now changed and he's getting recognised as a good and valuable player.
