Barca players have a habit of imploring their international teammates to jump ship. Can they not just keep their opinions to themselves instead of trying to influence what are ultimately critical decisions? It's very arrogant.

Agreed, its like an obsession, they should concentrate on their own team for a start.

Picque talks of loyalty but its a two way street. These lads are paid huge money and lets face it Torres has spent a lot of time off with injury. Players come and go but and frankly anyone that doesnt want to be at the club can go for me, no problem at all. What you dont want is someone like Torres commiting then spending the campaign hanging from the cross like hes doing us a favour. These Barcelona boys they think anyone not playing for them is some kind of slumdog in football terms and its bloody annoying not to mention disrespectful.

Fair statement and I wouldnt hold anything against Torres if he wants to leave.

We all expected us to leave at the start of this season but he is sticking with us for now.

He would still be great guy in my eyes if he left us

I believe Nando will be gone in January. Loyalties to the fans aside, or the broken promises, the longer a player of his kwalitee plays in a dysfunctional team like we have right now, the less brightly his star will shine......and he'll get more and more rusty as time goes by.

Why would any big team buy him in Jan? He can't be registered for Europe right? And it's only going to be Barca he would go to, unless Chelsea came in with a stupid offer. I don't think he will go this Jan though, probably in the summer.

Tell you what though as much as it riles me up to read those quotes I can't disagree with it. A player of his quality should be playing in the CL, not the Europa league.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

"IF" he moves to Barca, they won't need him to win the CL...not with Villa in the team. As I said, I don't see him wasting his energy or time or regressing in the current LFC team any longer than he has to.

So, what's the scenario, then?  Nando just decides he's had enough and says I'm off in January?  The proper response to that is "not so fast, son, you're still under contract and we are light in the world class strikers department.  Get your head down and do your job.  We'll decide if we're going to entertain any offers for you."

Torres isnt bigger than Liverpool. Hes a very good player but thats it, not the best in the world, not the most reliable, but up there and red hot on his day no question about it. All this :censored: about hes should be playing in the Champs League doesnt wash, the whole thing is over hyped. This lad was a main piece in a side that DIDNT qualify us for it in the first place. If hes that desperate to play Champs League then move on simple as that, he had his chance in the summer so no use all his muckers and media admirers moaning now hes opted to stay.Im tired of the whole thing, prima donnas, big egos, this is Liverpool Football Club for christ sakes, we shouldnt be begging like dogs at the feet of any player.I wouldnt mind but Torres hasnt said anything its just folk causing us problems because they cant keep their traps shut.

It may well come down to who the owners are in jan and what the financial situation of the club is - getting 40 to 50 mil into the club may well be vital .

Yeah, exactly that mate.....Why not ? You think a contract means anything these days ? Remember Masch, eh ? Players have the power, not the clubs....

That's a whole different discussion, though.  Who'll be running the show come January and what their motives will be with regards to Nando and big money offers very much remains to be seen.  This latest discussion, though, revolves around the player's wishes and my point there is that no player under contract has free reign to decide when he'll be sold.

Precisely, let's remember Masch...who was forced to tough it out for another year with us before getting his move.  Player power may be strong but I've yet to see a top player completely dictate terms to a club that still had him under contract.  Especially not in January, when very few transfers of this stature are ever completed.  Nando will be with us until the summer, I'm certain of it.  But beyond that...we'll see.
