i agree with that. finnan shouldn't play. put garcia at right mid and play two up. we need to get at them from the start. their defensive record is excellent.

A bold attacking plan, might just throw Chelsea right off guard. They will definitely be expecting us to come along and put up the shutters.
Maybe, a game of two halves. Backs to the wall in the first half, then turn on them in the second half !! It would be bloody great to win, with a few goals from some of our new boy's. Ah such dreams !!

If we plan on getting a point out of this game, we can't let them score first. If we do, they will sit on that one goal through out the whole game. We need to score first and then from there shut their offence off and attack.

Since when has LFC "planned on getting a point out of this game" ? ?

Leon do you read what Benitez says about every opponent? Clearly in every game he wants to ge three points, I was simply saying that if we want to get a point(s) we need to score before they do.

Why do you have this feud with me, is it really needed for you to start an arguement of some kind ?

Man it is not personal, get over yourself, I simply wanted to highlight the fact that maybe the standards have dropped, or that maybe they should. Its those speech marks again AB.

So what you're saying that we aren't going to attempt to get any points out of this game?

I am saying it is a sad inditement of the fall from grace of this once mighty club when we go to face Chelsea, last winners of the league as far back as the early fifties and we are going for a draw.

I am sure they will be doing their upmost to ensure we make a real fight of this match. Ofcourse a significant improvement is required if we are to expect anything from this fixture. The current team at their best would still find Chelsea very tough opponents. I think its fair to say we are really going to be up against it Sunday. I reckon we could tinker with the line up and formation all day long, but whichever way you split its  real close call. There is no stand out choice in attack or on the wing. The main thing is that whoever does get the nod performs to their maximum. We will certainly need to reach that level on the day to trouble Chelsea.

Chelsea's defence is rock solid, if we score i doubt the goals will come from our strikers and Raffa knows this he will play one upfront again its asert.
Our main concern is going to be Drogba, he seems to be really getting involved now. Spurs have a good solid defence thats how they could hold them to a draw and never really threatend to score. Us on the other hand our defence is our weakness and mourinho and the players will be well clued up to this :(
I personally think we'll get beat because are away form so far has been diabolicle :glare:
I hope not like but I cant see us getting anything out of this game.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

The game against Chelsea might be the most important of this season for Pool.
Win and it will be a turning point for us.
Generally, every pundit expects a Chelsea victory and we actually have nothing to lose.
It's now a psychological thing for our players and I just hope that they will chose this match to give their all.

How is the fact that Chelsea won the league in the 1950s relevant to expectations facing the two clubs in the present?

It is a shame that some supporters may have lowered expectations (albeit perhaps realistic expectations), however it's also an indictment on your behalf to be measuring a club's ability by the amount of time since they last lifted a title.

It is a wise move to pay Chelsea the respect they command based on the fact that their playing squad is second in todays' league, not a league in the 1950s. Perhaps this is why we've fallen from grace so far, as people continue to rest on past achievements and tables from the 70s and 80s.

Well i rather not look too much into the past as we have had a pretty ordinary record at Stamford Bridge even before the Russian Czar arrived
