How f**ked are we? - Let's see...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Kharhaz » Tue Jun 15, 2010 1:37 am

I think we should all just concentrate on the break that is the world cup. The arguments are doing nobody any favours, and lets face it, until the world cup is done and over with, we wont see major decisions until afterwards.

How fudged are we? easy, as long as them two are in charge, very fudged. But look at it this way, Man United are a lot worse off. And that in itself makes me feel better. At least our club is up for sale. We have potential new owners, who on earth would pay the over rated price the glazers have placed on united? Hell, the supporters wont !

Its not a great time, but its not the worst. We are making some kind of movement, United are at a standstill.

Lets wait and see.

Agger pledges loyalty to Liverpool

Daniel Agger remains committed to Liverpool

Daniel Agger insists he wants to stay at Liverpool despite the turmoil currently surrounding the club.

Liverpool remain up for sale, but there is little evidence to suggest a takeover deal is close and there are widespread reports they could cash in on their star players this summer.

Agger, currently on international duty with Denmark, says he is shocked that Rafael Benitez has left the club but insists he wants to stay at Anfield.

"I'm a little surprised because I didn't see it coming," Agger said in the Liverpool Echo. "Of course there has been a lot of talk about it but I didn't see it happening right now. The time with him was good.

"He is a good manager, he knows his stuff and he knows what football is about. When I return from my summer holiday, I'll see what is new, but his exit has no bearing on my future. I'm committed to Liverpool."

Fernando Torres, meanwhile, says he was disappointed to see Benitez leave but does not want to think about club issues until the World Cup has concluded.

"I have nothing but respect for Rafa and he has taught me a lot, but I can't think about the situation now," he said. "I am not sure who the Liverpool manager will be but I need to stay focused on Spain."

Torres, who reiterated his desire for a Spain vs England final in South Africa, believes Steven Gerrard will be fired up for his country after a hugely disappointing season.

"This season Liverpool have been written and talked about a lot, but what people forget is that fundamentally last season hurt the players and the boss," he said. "The club means a lot to us and the fans mean a lot to us.

"We didn't want to give them the kind of season we did. Trust me when I say that nobody is hurting more at the minute than Stevie. He is 'Mr Liverpool' and he sees the Liverpool fans as his family.

"Last season really hurt him. He is a player who plays on passions and emotions, but Liverpool's poor season can be England's gain.

"Stevie will want to end this season on a high and I think Liverpool's season will give him even more desire than he normally has. Stevie playing normally makes him one of the top five players in the world - a hurt Stevie can be unstoppable."

Nice words for Torres. I like him, he seems like a very decent person.

If only Fernando and Stevie would follow suit and pledge their loyalty to the club. FFS they both signed new contracts only a few years ago.

What did you tell ppl who wanted Rafa out exactly, not much has happened.

Or was it that you told us Rafa would get the sack  ???

I'm starting to think Rafa was booted out so that we can be stripped off of all our prize assets.

There is no f~cking way he would have put up with this sh~t.

well Mike a lot of the people that wanted Rafa to say always maintained that it was for reasons more than football. Those people know who they are and didnt shy away fromthe turmoil at the club. Rafa was the one shred of certainty that we had. Without him the club is being thrown to the vultures. I'm resigned to losing our best three players, for me one of them not leaving is a bonus right now

If we sell our key assets then the sale value of the club declines which is not in the owners nor banks interests.

Okay, but I will absolutely guarantee you that our entire spine would have been linked with summer transfers if Rafa had stayed as well.  We were abysmal last season, finished 7th and do not have Champions League football to look forward to this year so it doesn't take a genius to see that the press was going to speculate about some big name departures from Anfield.  In short, the rumours don't support any sort of "we told youse so" stance at all so it would be nice if the crowing could be put on hold until something actually happens to warrant it.
