Completley disagree with you there . Apart from Pepe , Javier was one of the other other handful of players who looked like he gave a t.oss. Big big loss for us when he goes ,

Agreed Nanny.

Thought he started the season slowly, probably in a bit of a sulk because the Barce deal didn't happen, but over the whole season he was easily our best outfield player imo.

I'd be really sorry to see him go, but if he did then I do think defensive mid is an easier position to plug than say if we lost our main striker in Torres or our main creative player in Gerrard.

Agreed.

But should we expect players to stay all their careers or is that history?

If there was more stability at the club in financial terms I have no doubts the likes of Torres and Mascherano would see out their better years here.

But to answer the question I think on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most :censored: we are creeping past 7 onto 8.

We know there is a high probability Yossi and Masch will go. Torres and Gerrard haven't exactly commited themselves to us in the same manner as Dan Agger so that doesn't fill me with too much confidence and there was even a story about Insua going somewhere for 5 Mil. There are too many ifs and we saw last season even with those same players it wasn't enough as injuries and poor form erxposed out lack of depth.

We need new owners, we need money, a shed load of it, we need a top class manager and we need it now. Without all the above we can kiss goodbye to the majority of our key players. The exception could be Gerrard who has been here a while now. I think despite everything if he wanted to go he would have done by now but thats not to say he wouldn't give Madrid a go.

All in all it's a pretty shitt.y time to be a Liverpool fan right now and I can only see it getting worse before it gets better. In fact I can't even see it getting better in the long term until we get new owners anyway.

Sorry to sound a doom and gloomer but it's the way I see it. Many said once Rafa had gone the players would be happy and we would be back on track fulfilling the true potential of our squad. I think it's fair to say that was the biggest load of :censored:. It's just a shame the main 2 culprits with that theory are banned but im sure they are reading still.

Masch would want out regardless of our boardroom/managerial position. He had his head turned by Barca last summer and that's that.

Masch might go...but i think we'll deal with it. Defensive holding midfielders are 10 to the penny in Europe and we'll have no problem replacing him with HALF of the fee we'll get for him.

Mascherano's one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He's probably the best midfield tackler in the world. 10 a f'ucking penny? Huh?

If we do get the money to reinvest and, let's face it, that is the mother of all if's, who are we going to bring in to replace him? Who are these world class players that will be lining up to join Liverpool, the team selling off all their assets and preparing for EL football next season??

Jérémy Toulalan or Lassana Diarra between £10-£15m if we sell Masch for £25-£30m???

Owners, manager, players, fans. From top to bottom, so much is up in the air at the minute. The only thing I'm pretty certain of is that this summer we won't be seeing any significant investment in the squad over and above what we recoup from player sales and we are highly unlikely to have a new owner by August. Beyond that I'm not too sure. Like last summer we might make a high value sale and a couple of high value purchases and end up more or less breaking even, which is still not acceptable for a club our size, but nevertheless spent well it might be enough if not to improve then to sustain the level of the squad. I see something like that as the most likely outcome right now, with Dalglish or Hodgson as manager.
