:( I think we'll be taking the 30m and seeing mascher and Gerard in cm next season

Tevez or A N Other alongside tores

I dont.

I cant see Rafa moving Gerrard back now after the season he has had.

Alonso could go to fund moves for other players, which would be a disgrace if Rafa is forced to sell one of our best players.

Lets all just hope these are just rumours and he is still there next season as he has shown thi season that his game is back.

he is our game dictator, if we lost him i couldnt see Gerrard Masher or Gareth Barry dictating the tempo of the games like Xabi does for us.

So maybe then if that were the case Rafa would move Stevie back into midfield where he could dictate the game thus allowing for another striker up front?

Stevie cant though mate.

He is a brilliant player but he doesnt have the same game intelligence as Alonso.
The ability to be in the right place at the right time and his decision making when he plays deeper isnt great either.
He too often tries to force things as he is an all action 100mph player.

Thats great sometimes but in those home games where we have to break down the well set up teams Stevie gets frustrated easily.

Alonso is definately a better player in controlling the tempo of the game.

Breaking up the very successful gerrard/torres partnership?
Gerrard cant step into alonsos role, he simply isnt that kind of player. Sure he could do a good job but i would not mess with the best parts of our team.

If Alonso wants to leave I don’t blame him and wont hold it against him. The way Rafa treated him last summer as an absolute disgrace and Alonso has acted impeccably when many other players would have thrown their toys out of the pram.

I think it is very unlikely we will find a player of equal quality to fill the gap but on the up side we could buy someone like Barry for under 10 mil and use the remaining money to strengthen another area of the team.

This hypothetical new cm will still include Gerard who let's face  it will still get around 10 goals or So, plus with 2 "proper" strikers scoring goals should make the team more potent.

We'll prob concede more, but maybe win more:blues:

If Alonso genuinely wants to go then we should sell him. This IS NOT what I want but we can't keep a player if he is genuinely unhappy and not when it will give Rafa £20m to strengthen elsewhere.

If it allows Rafa the money to go out and buy Tevez then perhaps it's not a bad move. I am certain that Barry will join and he can go some way to filling the void that would potentially be left if Alonso goes. It would probably mean Gerrard coming back into MF (and leave Torres and Tevez up top) but we all know he is more than capable of that job.

?? How can you say that Reina would walk into Barcelona when he isn't even considered good enough to be reserve goalie for Spain??

If you're basing that info on Football Manager 2001, then I stronly suggest you update your main source of footie knowledge with the latest patches and updates.

In real football though, the first choice of my country is Casillas and the second, Reina. For the third there have been some fight since Cañizares left between the likes of Palop and Valdes, but yes, nowadays the Barcelona keeper is light years away of Reina in terms of reputation.

Actually, if my country hadn't a media that is more Madrid biased than the English press is biased to Manchester, we'd have some debate about who's the better keeper in my country.

If Reina has no options of being picked before Casillas is because Real Madrid is the team of the journos and his impact in the media is greater playing the national league. But if you ask coaches and players, the debate is open. Casillas is better under the sticks, but Reina is better in the modern aspects of football.
