People follow football clubs for all sorts of reasons.. its a family thing, its the local team, its the most successful team, it has the best players etc whatever the reason no-one player is bigger than any club.. (Diego.. and Napoli probably being the exception  :D ) Liverpool have a history and tradition which is unique to a few clubs.. success has followed us... but players also have a following.. certainly I looked out for the results of clubs where Maradona played.. but that's different to supporting a football club.. it's always been LFC for me even if I am a "cockney" :)

If success made you money, the world would be full of Brazil and Greece shirts and hats.......You boys  are too close to the product. In the rest of the world, football stars and their shirts are mostly a fashion statement, not a pledge of allegiance. Therefore Arsenal this year and Manu last.
The core fans always buy the stuff, but the iceing on the cake is to get the casual fan from around the World to buy.
:p
