Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Sun Sep 14, 2025 5:01 pm

I know Salah scored a penalty but if Slot keeps doing this all season it is going to bite us hard. Yes Salah is quality but even he can have shyte games. Slots reluctance to take him off, baffles me.

Glad we've got Isak, we need some clinical firepower uptop.

Yeah ! I suggest they should seriously consider changing the the name of their ground from Turf Moor to TURD Moor  :D

Today was Wirtz's best game in a red shirt to date yet he gets ragged off whilst Mo (who was anonymous bar the pen) once again plays the entire 90.....as you say mate baffling.
We haven't started the season well but we sit top on max points, we won't be able to keep doing that all season though, we need to start clicking.

Hopefully we do click soon, come end of season if we do retain the title how vital will these last 4 games have been.

Bournemouth- 88 Chiesa 3-2
Newcastle- 90+10 Rio 3-2
Arsenal - 83 Dom 1-0
Burnley - 90+5 Salah 1-0

12 points which "potentially" could've been 4.

I don’t think Burnley deserved anything from the game…. They parked the bus, kept a player up hoping for a counter, gave up possession at their own ground and didn’t do anything except try not to lose. It was our relentless pressure that got the win. Like last year we are starting slowly but still winning.

Salah seems to be lost now and I don’t think it’s form but it could become. He just seems like an outsider in the team trying to keep up, looks lost. When he goes to AFCON we will see what the future looks like post Salah and I’m not too worried.

Every top player begins to decline, not sure if his has started. All players go through bad patches but what puzzles me is how Slot does not sub him.

We've  got Atletico on Wednesday, who've had poor start in La liga. then M-Derby early on Saturday.
Rotation is key if we want fo keep players fit and injury free as fixtures are coming thick and fast.

I think it’s too early to write Mo off just yet, a few players have been anonymous these past few games (Gakpo was yesterday) and things are still clicking together.

The key thing is winning. And we’ve done that, despite not being at our best, because that’s what champions do.

I don’t think it’s about decline, I just think he looks like it’s not his team anymore and he seems lost. With all the new young players he seems to have become a smaller part of the team and how they play. The team seems to be moving on from him and he needs to adapt and find a way. When he leaves in the winter we will see how the team evolves and so will he. If he doesn’t start when he comes back he’ll sulk and probably go to Saudi in the summer.

It is about decline with Salah. It was evident a lot last season with so many anonymous performances. He plays every single minute which like yesterday often ends up with a late goal or penalty. I cant remember many games last season where he was actually motm. His form dropped last year and looks like its dropping again this year. Hes 33 and thats an age where a lot have already hung up the boots or moved down the leagues. Most full backs have him in their pocket imo. He is still worth having but have to question the amount of minutes hes getting every week. No one else would hold on to their place with so many poor games but he does because I reckon he got those assurances to sign the new contract. Slot won't take him off or even let anyone else have a go in his position.

As I said, AFCON may be a blessing because we get to see the future without him

Hopefully we see it before then Mate and especially if those performances continue. He spoke at the end of the season about Slot changing things to suit him which imo sends out the wrong message to other players. I would be well up for reducing his minutes in the hope that it prolongs his season and we get the best out of him . Afcon will wipe him out as he will play every minute and they could go far into the tournament. Then there is Ramadan which will also have a major effect on him. Fatigue could set in if we let him play every minute of every game which is a worry as he is still an important player.

I know my post was directly below yours Kazza so sorry if it came across as having a pop at yours.

With the new 2 year mega contract you'd imagine Mo would explode into the new season.

Glad to get the 3 points regardless, it's going to take a few games for the lads to adjust to the new faces and system.
