personally, i didnt say i'd be happy with a draw. point i was tryin to make was that with our current team (still no proper strikers) we'll have played very well to win at villa who's home record is alright. its not gonna be a stroll by any means. but we need the win. we have to fight our guts out again but it makes the win even more delightful.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

The problem is our away form leaves alot to be desired, we have had no luck since this season begun.
First owen saga, gerrard going then staying, cisses leg, baros, garcia, Josemi injured and Gerrard.
Now we have Gerrard back fit but no proven strikers our luck changed last sunday night when we beat arsenal and the win against spurs on wednesday, hopefully ww will win tomorrow I reckon 2-1 to us.
I just hope all this take over sh.it isnt on anyones mind thats all we need tomorrow and wednesday.
Clear heads on high from beating arsenal and start winning our away games is most important.

We must win tonight and i hope we dont play sh*te football like how we played against boro. Good news is that Hendrie and Hitzleberger ain't playing tonight. Wait, is Gerrard playing upfront?

No. Our formation allows him to play as a striker in a way from the midfield.

We should stick with the same formation that beat Arsenal except with 2 changes. Biscan for Kewell and Pongolle upfront with Mellor.

I know Biscan is a central midfielder but with Kewell's recent form any replacement will do, even any of the youngsters who featured in the Carling Cup.

Some people in here should be a bit more realistic. I know 3 points taste better than 1, but givet the situation we are in I can accept a draw. With Cisse and Baros available, a win would have been the only acceptable outcome. I think Benitez first 11 will look like this

Kirkland

Finnan
Hyypia
Carra
Traore(if fit)/Warnock

Gerrard
Hamann
Alonso
Biscan
Riise

Kewell

Subs: Pongolle, Dudek, Partridge, Nunez, Warnock

Playing Kewell as a lone striker is the best option available, and maybe a goal or two can boost his confidence. If we are to wn the game we depend on the trio Gerrard, Alonso and Hamann. Kewell and others should get plenty of service and goal scoring opportunities.

Ping pong or Mellor will be playing upfront maybe both, I guarentee it.

I think it's time to drop Kewell based on his recent form, and I would give Warnock a run in the team. That way Risse will drop to LB, which should strengthen our defence.

My formation:

Kirkland

Finnan
Carragher
Hyypia
Risse

Hamann
Alonso
Warnock
Pongolle/Nunez

Gerrard

Mellor

...and realistically, we should take all 3 points against a boring Villa. The team is confident now coming from 2 morale boosting wins last week, we should biult on this foundation.
