yeah i can see why you think crouch is no good when he has a better international record than the "best striker in england"
stats are misleading... I agree with Owzat...
You can't be called a world class striker if you're not proven to be a big game performer no matter what your goal scoring record looks like... to say that crouch is world class because of his goal scoring record will be very funny indeed...
unless crouch scores in crucial games in world cup or the european cup he won't be talked about in the same level as owen and rooney...
Peter Crouch scores and creates goals in every comp he plays in, he's scored for US agaist Utd and Chelsea, a perfect hatrick agaist Arsenal was our top scorer last season though under used, scored two great overhead kicks in a few days and though again underused when called upon has scored with both head and feet this season and has still managed to maintain a very impressive international record. So whats the problem? Is that just not enough for 7mil?
It would appear thats the case. Peter Crouch doesnt look the part so he couldnt possiblbly fit in. His record speaks for itself. Heres one for the media lovers. Crouch's record is better than Owens and Rooneys for both club and country these past 2 seasons.
this has nothing to do with whether he looks the part or not, whether he fits in or not. and this has nothing to do with appearance or whether he's 6'7"...
I am aware of all his goals...but the problem is they mean very little in a bigger scope of things... you may build a 4 storey building in a predominantly 1 storey houses and think that it's tall... but it's still a dwarf compared to skyscrapers...
unless he scores a wonder goal against argentina in the world cup... unless he scores 2 goals in a major cup final and gave us a 2-1 win when we were losing 0-1... unless he scores 4 goals in 4 games in the European Cup... unless he scores a header that would spark the comeback of the century...he will never be regarded the same level as owen and rooney and gerrard... his hattrick against a depleted arsenal is nice... but it pales in comparison because very few people will remember it since it was not something that turned around our season...
the fact is that crouch is a very limited footballer and his goalscoring feats are in part due to rafa's clever use of him...
if he can show abit of acceleration in his runs and if he can show he can head the ball instead of the ball hitting his head... then he is in a position to match those remarkable feats...
like it or not as it is he's a very average player with a flattering record... that's all
