The Run In

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Of course Ethan you're quite right, I guess if you built a variable based on points taken out of the last 10 games then multiplied the games degree of difficulty based on position as above, by the performance factor it might change the outcome dramatically. But  this is what the media does, it finds ways to wind you up!

I know its an old cliche but I hope that we just concentrate on the next game to come and not look too far ahead. Swansea away is going to be tricky. They are difficult to beat - especially at home, even though we blitzed them at Anfield in what was arguably our best performance of the season - up to that point.

Momentum and confidence are the two main factors. At the moment they are the aces in our pack. No other team has our record over the last twelve league games but it could mean nothing if we can't get into the top 4.

As for Stevie, it's a tricky one. I'd have to play him but ease him in gently again, giving him 20 mins here and there before starting him again. You just know Brendan will pick him and I'd play him instead of Allen (though it would be tough on Joe as he played superb v City) and Lucas.
[b]I am and always will be in love with them...

Everton is considered 'big one' for us, but it's actually not a big one for the rest...

We are not quite dead and buried just yet.  But we need to pretty much win all our games and hope United or City crumble.  Thats very unlikely and we are not exactly playing well lately ourselves.

A team that can't beat united at home has no hope. It's over lads.

Manure's next 3 games are massive for them. If they fail to take at least 3-4 points from those then we have a good chance of pushing them all the way. I know its a big ask and our players probably feel its over but they cannot be allowed rest on that thought. They need to put it aside and win games starting with Newcastle at the weekend.

7 points is doable but we have to take 21 to make it happen.

Mathematically it is still possible and there does always seem to be one or two surprising twists at the end of every season but I'm not sure we are in the right place mentally to put pressure on the team's above us.
Those last 2 defeats crushed us and by the sounds of it there's been plenty of finger pointing and falling out behind the scene's as well. Once that starts happening team spirit takes a nosedive and you are f**ked.
Never mind going on a 7 match winning streak (which would have to include beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge) I'm more concerned about tonight, when you've got players refusing to travel, other players giving unsanctioned interviews and the details of heated conversations between the manager and senior players splashed all over the back pages even lower division clubs become a huge proposition.

Mancs just beat city 4-2. Which is not good for us. The mancs have a far more difficult games ahead than City. They still have to play Chelsea and Arsenal.

Very interesting that we could find ourselves only 4 points behind City if we beat Newcastle tomorrow.

I must admit I never saw them imploding like this after they overtook us at the end of last season to win the title.

Our run home outside of Chelsea away is fairly easy but the problem is that City also have a weak draw with the only real challenges against Totteham away and potentially Southampton (on the last day).

It will be close if we can pick up our form again and City drop more points, but those two games against Manure and Arsenal have really dealt us a blow and its hard seeing City finish outside the top 4 even with their squad.

As funny as this sounds, we really need Southampton to finish the season strongly to make the last day of play yet another premier league classic.

It's last season all over again, all we can do is win all our remaining games and the rest is in the hands of the gods.

Whilst United have the harder fixtures, they are on a run, whereas City's games are easier but they suffer from losing streak mentality. You may as well pick a name out of the hat it's that unpredictable.

City's games may look easier on paper but as Reg says they suffer from a losing mentality and i reckon it would be far easier for them to pick themselves up if they were playing against teams at the top rather than teams they are expected to beat. Their last four games are not going to be easy for City, Spurs and Southampton chasing Europe, QPR trying to avoid relegation and Swansea are no mugs at home. We just need to pick ourselves up and start winning, I really hope BR is telling the lads to go out and win and put the pressure on.
