Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I read this in Marca, the original quotes must come from a chat in the official site, but I couldn't find them, so this is a translation for the spanish.

"My ankle is better, but evolving slowly. I hope to be ready againt Real Madrid and in Old Trafford, two massive games. The injury is being persistent and isn't evolving as quickly as I expected. Anyway I'm optimist and I hope to play"

If Rafa goes, he makes clear he'll stay

"My future is linked to Liverpool because when this season ends I'll have four years more of contract. If Rafa doesn't continue I can't do anything but respect my contract. My wish is that he renews his contract and continues here".

I think there will inevitably talk of a mass exodus if the manager goes, well it's fairly inevitable and the incoming manager will, without much doubt, want to make changes and build his own team. But only an idiot would want rid of Torres, although there is always the strong chance our former manager will take up a new post and want to sign Torres. But we'd be fools to sell him for a realistic price, I think there's more chance Citeh will bust the bank trying to sign Torres than wherever Rafa goes - and Torres probably knows we won't sell him cheap.

I doubt Carra and Gerrard will want to leave if Rafa goes, of the rest the main worries would be the Spanish contingent and Mascherano I guess. Most of the others have been "sold off" by some members at some point or another in discussions on here!

Im not so sure that is something to jump up about. Seeing out his contract is not the same as remaining commited to the club and wanting a new contract. The club would sooner sell him with 2 years to go rather than see him play the remaining 4 years and then bugger off.

He needs to get signed up to a new contract in the next year.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Back to his imperious best last night, first half especially. I haven't watched the game back on TV yet but it was wonderful to see him playing like that again.

Great celebration infront of the Madrid fans aswell. :D

i was beginning to wonder if last season was a freak season for him and that this season, injuries aside, he was showing his true and usual level. i'm very happy to say that last night i was proved completely and utterly wrong. some of his touches and turns were sublime, his appetite and commitment were spot on and he showed an aggression in front of goal that at times took my breath away.

welcome back, nando kidda

:D

On Torres, where did that form and fitness come from ?
He has been out injured and even before that looked lacklustre, like he was really lacking match fitness.

To come in and perform like that was great to see, but also really surprising to me.
Torres usually takes a few games back to get into his stride but last night was well up for it and didnt look like he was just coming back from an injury in the slightest.

The worrying thing is he got kicked to bits at Old Trafford last season by Ferdinand and Vidic. Expect nothing to change come Saturday.

Given how sharp he looked against madrid, it kind of made me wonder how close he must have been to being fit in the previous matches. He certainly didn't look even slightly troubled by any injuries.

On that form, he is the best striker in the World IMHO.

Sometimes in big games players can just play of adrenaline, I hope this wasn't the case however.

Torres is class and class is permanent - the adrenaline helped his performance on this occassion, given his injuries.. but he is top top class...

That's a great picture

think you only have to look at the state of his ankle and how well it was wrapped up and protected after the match in the interview to see that there was a risk with him .

His touch and turn in the first couple of minutes when he left cannavaro for dead was world class.

He played with a strong and tight dressing in the ankle, normally he doesn't, so I guess there was something to be cautious yesterday about his ankle.

In days before, even more cautious, needless to say.
