Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Leonmc0708 » Wed Apr 28, 2004 9:52 pm

Alright guys and gal (HI lep) if you have not seen on the TV or heard on the radio, Head of FIFA and general idiot Sep Blatter has recently advocated doing away with draws and having penalties after extra time to decide the winner of every game.

One footballing legend was less than impressed:

Legendary Liverpool defender Phil Neale has hit out at FIFA supremo Sep Blatter's controversial plans to eradicate drawn matches from the football world.

The Swiss-born FIFA president has insisted that "every match should have a winner" and is ready to introduce penalty shoot-outs to decide all tied games in the future.

Neale, who hit he net in Liverpool's famous shoot-out success against Roma in the 1984 European Cup, feels that Blatter's bold idea would prove 'boring' for supporters.

Neale said: "It would be a boring deal for the public and detrimental to our game. The bottom sides would be playing for 0-0 in the hope of winning the penalty shoot-out. It would be horrible to watch.

"I wouldn't like to watch penalty shoot-outs every week. They would become boring. The Americans tried a similar way of settling drawn games. It was just gimmicky."

How the f##k does this guy stay in a job?

I agree that blatter is a complete gobsh##e. You cant introduce this s##t system. it would make league football too bring and anyway having penalty shoot outs at the end of a game is unfair to players-For example, What if wolves work hard to get a draw at highbury and then get nothing cos they lose on penalties. COMPLETE bullsh#t
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,

I am not big fan of Sepp Blatter, i never like him at all. He is trying to ruin football!

I remember the Japanese Football League, their rules have to be Win and Lost..so they are not allowed to have drawn, if the team are drawn after 90minutes, they go to penalty straight away. But Football can be very cruel game, is it?

Blatter is a bit thick isnt he. But it would be interesting to see what it would be like although it will never happen. The president of the argentinian football accociation also said that blatter made these comments "in a moment of euphoria".

luckily Sepp doesn't have the final word, he can propose to the International Football association or whatever and they vote on whether it becomes policy or not, but as far as I know they rarerly gree with anything Blatter proposes anyway.

I am wondering your age leonn, the reason I ask is the correct pelling is Neal not Neale.

However I agree with you on the points raised about Blatter, he seems to be losing the plot

It makes me laugh so much when people criticise other peoples spelling and then go and spell something wrong. Peewee you idiot did you mean spelling?

By the way I cut and pasted the article from Yahoo so the spelling mistake was not mine . . . . . .  . .

agree about golden 'n silver goal, total cr#p

back pass rule is imo one of the most important and best new rules ever added. watch an old match and you'll know what i mean. football became much faster without all the passing back to the goalkeeper!!!

Agree with Swiss, the back pass rule made the game better so did the tackle from behind.
Remember the days when centre halves used to go through strikers without fear or favour? Not good.
