Hahahaha.

Seeing that Corinthians is basically controlled by Abrahamovich's group, there seem to be many similiarities between Corinthians and Chelsea in terms of how they collect top players.

But hopefully sooner than later, their spending power is going to be balanced out by its own deficiency because there is absolutely no way that they can buy everyone and keep every one of their players hungry for success. An example is how everyone is rebuffing Chelsea's approaches for their top players already and how winning a few times can cause complacency (which we may see soon enough as we saw in Real Madrid).

Really though, I don't think that it is a waste of time for English football supporters to be aware of what is happening in South America because a good number of signings are going to come from there and Corinthians is surely going to be a very important farm system for Chelsea.

Corinthians is where Chelsea is going to be developing many top notch players until Mourinho needs them at Chelsea. Two really big names already there are Carlito Teves and Javier Mascherano (Argentinians). I am really keen to see how things work out with these recent Abrahamovich purchases because they can be telling signs of the future of the premiership.

Sure, South America is only one market, but we all know that it produces some class players.
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

mighty mo,

I´m sure about the great collection of trophies of Liverpool, but as Liverpool, Sao Paulo has a giant collection too. Just for example...

2 Intercontinental Cups (2-1 against Barcelona and 3-2 against Milan);
3 Libertadores da América;
2 South American Recopas;
1 South American Supercup;
1 Conmebol Supercup;
1 Conmebol Cup;
3 Brazilian Championships;

European trophies, just some of it (Result in the final game):

Torneo de Firenze (ITA), 1964;
São Paulo 1 - 0 Zenit Leningrad (RUS)

Trofeu Colombino (SPA), 1969;
São Paulo 2 - 1 Real Madrid (SPA)

Torneo Ciudad de Barcelona (SPA), 1991;
São Paulo 2 - 1 Spanyol (SPA)

Trofeu Rámon de Carranza (SPA), 1992;
São Paulo 4 - 0 Real Madrid (SPA)

Trofeu Tereza Herrera (SPA), 1992;
São Paulo 4 - 1 Barcelona (SPA)

Torneo Santiago de Compostela (SPA), 1993;
São Paulo 2 - 2 River Plate (ARG) - Penalties: 4-3

and others...

Against english teams São Paulo has faced just Ipswich Town in 1982 in Tampa, Florida, US. São Paulo 1 - 0 Ipswich Town.

azriahmad,

Robinho plays for Santos FC but he is going to Real Madrid now.

The Sao Paulo most popular player is Rogerio Ceni (goal Keeper). He´s considerated for many the best of Brazil. He was with the brazilian team in the world cup of 2002.

Our defender Diego Lugano (Uruguay). He´s been cogitated to go to Barcelona but he will stay in Sao Paulo until the end of this year. He plays in the Uruguaian team too.

Cicinho. He play for Brazil in this last Confederations Cup and stay in Sao Paulo until the last of the year at least. Betis and Porto are fighting for him.

Júnior. He arrive here from Parma, ITA, to play the libertadores and the brazilian championship. He´s a very fast player and take part in the world cup 2002 conquest.

Amoroso. He last club was Malaga, SPA. In 2002 was the greatest player in Bundesliga playing for Borussia Dortmünd. He came to Sao Paulo to reinforce the team for Libertadores.

In the next month another player will arrive... probably "França" (playing now in Villareal, SPA) or Claudio Pitbull (was in Porto, at this moment i don´t know)... the name is uncertain yet...

About Corinthians,

They have the second largest "torcida" of Brazil with more than 12 million fans, but the club is very disorganized. The agreement about Corinthians and the MSI (Kia Joorabachian, "employee" of Abrahamovich) is being considerated bad for all here and even with Tevez and Mascherano (and others as Roger, Carlos Alberto) corinthians is going bad in our national championship. All the guys here is with one foot behind when the subject is corinthians because no one knows what will hapens with then because this agreement.

The Largest torcida of Brazil is of Flamengo with almost 17 million fans. The third torcida is of Sao Paulo with almost 10 million fans.

Obrigado Bandei.

Your English is not so bad. But I have to learn some Portuguese. It is such a beautiful language.

Just one question....What does "All the guys here is with one foot behind" mean? Does that mean they are ready to kick? ???? :laugh: Let me know.

Hi,

Policy,

First, thanks. About the phrase, means the same of "suspicious" or "distrustful".  :grinning:

mighty mo,

Thanks. I´m waiting a great game in Japan.  :wwww

Just a rectification:

Flamengo "torcida" it´s not of 17 million but 23.5 million,
Corinthians it´s not of 12 million but 17.2 million,
Sao Paulo is right.
The fourth "torcida" is of Palmeiras with 9 million.

It´s a pleasure be here in this forum.

See ya!

Cicinhos ok but Amoroso and Junior are Seria A rejects who only managed like 2 goals a season. Its no point tunring this thread into a slagging match. Well see you December and may the best team win.

Bavlondon,

Junior is a great player. He´s not a "killer", he´s a middlefield player. Amoroso got the artillery of italian championship in 1999 playing for Parma and Bundesliga in 2002 playing for Borussia Dortmund. In 2003 he was hurted and because of that lost his position and was transfered for Malága (SPA). He´s playing very well again and now for Sao Paulo. He´s a killer.

But... fear one name...

... Rogerio Ceni... our goal keeper... 46 goals... just this year was 13 goals...

... and the principal... his defenses...

Rogerio...  :bowdown

Was it not rumoured that Liverpool would send a reserve/weakened team, because of the number of fixtures we have this season?

Winning this tournament will NOT mean we can claim that....We are a LONG way off being the best team in the world (in terms of playing, because of course we are the best team in he world!! WE ARE LIVERPOOL)
