I had to be out all sunday (I'm about to be uncle, my sister is going to have a kid!) and couldn't watch the game. Fortunately I'm going to have more spare time now, and I'll watch next game for sure.

A win is a win, though.

BTW - what was young Gregory Vignal doing smacking Gerrard?

If that wasn't deliberate, what will result in a fine or a ban? Pulling a knife? Using surface-to-surface missiles?

I bet Stevie had a few words with the little sh*t afterwards. He used to be his Captain, for crying out loud.  :no

Played badly but got away with it.

No LFC player really stood out, before Riise scored I was saying, "Just have a pop" and he did.

Well fook me. You were practically an assist, eh? Hope they credit you in the stats.  :sleepy:

Apparently Lando the lad had an attitude at Liverpool and had a reputation for taking training a little to seriously and thought nothing of diving into tackles in training.

Hence the reason after he got injured after a good run of form he was practically made an outcast.

Yeah, he made a good start in the game.  He made some tackles and helped the midfielders.

He played well for his debut, but needs to cut out that diving straight away, all he was short off was a yellow frilly swimming cap and a cozzy.

good result, just glad of the win despite playing garbage for the majority of the game. the first half an hour made bolton-arsenal seem like barcelona-real madrid :D

Dreadful match. One of the poorest performances from us this season, although all things are relative. It was no Birmingham or Southampton away last season, it wasn't shambolic. It just wasn't very good. :D

We did ok, but should have killed the game early and coasted home. Morientes showed his shocking lack of pace for Gerrard's pass at the end of the 1st half, had he reached it, it was game over.

Krompkamp did ok, but I didn't like his dive, and the jury is still very much out.

We were sloop at times, even Carra committed a few shockers. Warnock needs some fine tuning. The ability is there, but the experience isn't, and he had a few unnecessary moments where he put his own keeper and defence under pressure, particularly in the second half.

Sissoko had his now normal game of appearing absolutely dreadful in the first half before becoming more influential in the second, much of which I put down to raw and freakish fitness. His attempt to control the ball at times in the first half reminded me of Carlton Palmer.

I though Xabi was our best player, he worked hard and tried his best to press the game forward to Portsmouth.

The pitch was a joke too, i've never seen a more bobbly pitch.

We couldnt seem to get our foot on the ball, and morientes In my opinion is poor, same as Cisse. for some reason Cisse was up front but wanted to play right wing?

LFC , for all there good defensive results still seem to lack something.

Im hoping for Man Utd at Anfield tommorow in the draw.

I quote myself again!

I agree, the dive was a joke and he seems to have a worrying tendency to get caught the wrong side of his man and end up fouling him.  On the plus side he's very composed on the ball and his distribution looks good.  Not afraid to get stuck in either.  Hard to judge properly after only one start though.

if you look closely at that pic of Robbie and Rafa, Rafa looks like Robbies dad, but with less hair.

The thing thats concerning me at the moment is that for a tall side, an inability to defend set pieces with any degree of confidence seems to be rearing it's ugly head again. Anyone else feel the same?

to be honest, i thought it would be a luton part two, it was even worse, looks like we haven't taken off far enough from the past platform. warnock needs to sort some stuff out before getting into the business. moro hasn't simply done enough, we're lucky being awarded by the penalty. should it wasn't riise's day, we might have been finished. we should delete such bad sectors and walk on.
