They dont HAVE to win really do they mate?

They are 1 point behind with 2 games in hand.

Rafa got everything he wanted out of this game, a much needed rest for some of our better players for the big push down the stretch and the 3 points.

It really does beggar belief on here sometimes. The team wins with a goal 90 seconds from the end, you're all up and happy and we're top of the league and you get every second poster rounding on anyone who is able to express anything other than "GET IN THERE FFS!!!!!!!!!". Yes, we all like to "get in there", some of us so badly that when we do, FFS is entirely appropriate. It is possible though to happy we won the game and perhaps wonder if there's a reason we did kind of make hard work of it.

Now for those who simply want to say "GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!", more power to their elbow. That is your right, your privialge etc etc. I have never ever had a go at a "GET IN THERE" post, and why should I? It's lovely and we're all happy. If you simply want to be happy and not even think about anything else, then peachy. Why doesn't somebody start a "GET IN THERE!!!" thread, and we can all go "GET IN THERE!!!". No doubt somebody will get really carried away and say "GET THE FECK IN THERE!!!!!" but it's all good. If you don't want to start such a thread but would like to do it in here, that's good too. I'll start it off, "GET IN THERE!!!!!!!".

If on the other hand, given it's the match thread and all that stuff and given it's a football forum, if people want to actually talk about the match, is it not OK? If it's not, I'll toddle off and start a new thread. It really is very strange on here sometimes.

No they dont have to and they do have a better goal difference than us but they will not want to let any gap between us and then lessen.

Benayoun was great mate, he plays really well between lines, very technical player. He´s very clever.

Of course, I'm happy that we won the game but how many more times you think we will win if we keep select team like this. The fact that we won doesn't mean we should ignore the problem.

This game was thrilling and with a two weeks break, why not play your best team?

i dont get why people are moaning about the selection .... we dominated until the portsmouth goal .... its not rafa's fault babel missed an open net .... and again why call it luck when torres scores and quality when berbatov/tevez does the same? ?  :no

Come on they are the luckiest team alive! Just look at the replay against the Bitters. Rafa sells Keane and five minutes into the game Torres takes a knock that clearly didn't help his game and Gerrard was injured and received the biggest ovation of his life after ten minutes - YES YOU SHOWER OF MOANING BITTER FKRS THAT'S WHAT I CALL LUCK !!!!!!

For people who didn't like the lineup we outplayed them but for some reason our players keep making stupid mistakes over and over and over again.  I don't understand them and at first I would have agreed that Rafa was the one making the mistakes but now it is quite simply down to the players.  They are letting him down on a consistent basis to be perfectly honest.  It's just happened too often to keep blaming the manager really.

The commentators can say we were lucky as much as they like. We weren't lucky to concede a possibly offside goal. We weren't lucky to have a possibly onside goal disallowed. We weren't lucky for Reina to misjudge the bounce for their second goal. We did what good teams should do - kept going until the end. As has been mentioned: when Utd do it it's not luck it's class according to commentators.

I thought Babel improved again today from his past performances but he plays with his head down far too much. He tends to go past 1 or 2 players then instead of passing it he'll try and take more on himself. If he picks his head up he could come good.

N'Gog still hasn't shown me anything to make me think he's ready for the 1st team. I'd rather play Babel up there if Torres/Kuyt aren't starting.

Benny Noon is starting to impress me. I've always been annoyed by his selection because he's not a winger but he's adapting well to the new formations - whatever they may be! :p

Alonso, Kuyt and Torres were a class above the rest today.

I think people just like to enjoy wins.  Its not like we play games every day. There is plenty of time tomorrow and monday to critique the game.  I would suggest a 4 hour or so waiting period before making any kind of analysis on how we should have done better.  Probably even better to wait a whole day and if possible watch it back again without your nerves or prejudice blinding you (not specifically YOU, Bigmick  :D   )
