O'neill or not?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby GERRYOBD » Wed Feb 25, 2004 6:48 pm

Houllier is now blind to the simple fact that in just under two seasons we have become a joke - little invention, overpaid non entities wearing the Liver bird who probaly don't know who Shanks was, and falling further and further behind United and the Gooners. O'Neill has proved he can manage at a club with tradition and stature - Liverpool would be a real challenge for him and I believe he has the abilty to motivate players to performances beyond their usual level on a consistent basis. Houllier has had his five years and we are still nowhere near being a championship winning team - does anyone seriously think Wenger would keep playing Traore and Biscan? No, and that's why Aresnal are playing the sort of football that used to be associated with the Liverpool teams of the 80s. Get O'Neill now before we continue to silde into irreversible decline. :(

Yeah.

I want Martin O'Neill as the new boss for next season.

We should tell him to bring down Chris Sutton and Henrik Larrson with him when he comes down to Anfield. OK, they do play in the SPL, but they can't be any worse than Emile Heskey.

i agree o'neill is the best avaliable at the moment. and i think larsson and sutton are excellent players. sutton got alot of stick at chelsea but he was class at blackburn and he is a much better player than heskey. not saying much mind.

Better get playing CM4 then hadn't you............

O'Neill or not -> or not. I'd look for a top manager with experience of managing a big club and big players in a big league. Limited success at Leicester and inevitable success at Celtic doesn't really count

Anyone find me Celtic results under O'Neill where they've beaten a top European side? (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man Utd, Barcelona..........)

Nah!!!

I prefer Pro Evolution Soccer 3.

It's cool.

It's the only place where I get to see Liverpool actually WIN occasionally.

BTW- I can find one Celtic result of interest. Last season's UEFA Cup where they dumped Liverpool out and left Houllier looking like a complete moron.

Celtic would not challange for the English title, they would be a mid table side, as were Leicester and as we are now! NOT O'NEIL

I would appreciate the passion that O'Neill would bring to the club. I'm just sick and tired of Houllier's lame excuses for failure after failure.

Do you think Del Bosco could manage a team without Real's kind of money?

That's a possiblity.

The thing that concerns me, is whether or not the board will give a new manager the funds he would need, since Houllier wasted so much money buying second-rate players.

Let's hope that if he goes that GH (if he's still the manager) won't blow the money on cr#p like he has before.
