No longer a threat! - Gallas article in the sunday star

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Gbo » Mon Apr 12, 2004 12:14 am

I couldn't help but laugh at an article on page 65 of the Sunday Star (I know, quality read....) about our interest in William Gallas.
Apparantly Gallas is unsettled at Stamford Bridge having been played out of position and with Walter Samuel linked with Chelski, his future does not look good.
Newcastle and the Manc scum could try to sign him but Houllier is the first to register an interest.
The article ended with the following: "Chelsea would prefer to sell to a club they don't view as a threat in the Premiership"!!!!!!
Maybe this in Houlliers masterplan - turn us into a s**te team and other clubs will sell us quality players as we are obviously not a threat!!
Seriously though i would be more than happy with Gallas at Anfield,

If we signed him i think we'd be a serious threat to not only the premiership but europe aswell. He's the exact sort of player we need imo and probably one of the best around. He's probably as good as Sol Campbell or near enough. He's one of the worlds top 10 in my opinion, i'd snap there hand off. Him and Cisse (yes i know both french) would be amazing. We'd be more lethal at the other end and so much tighter in defence.

Riise, Carragher, Finnan, Hyypia, Henchoz, Traore, Vignal. One top class defender away from being a hell of a strong squad defensively, Gallas would certainly be an answer there.

But the chances of this happening are zero. (i so badly hope i'm wrong here)

I also think Gallas would be a great signing for us as he is class and is what we need.

Can you seriously not understand why we are not seen as threat. We've had a bad season and it would take more than gallas for us to be a threat.

Gallas would be great signing but I seriously doubt he will leave chelsea. If he does leave chelsea then liverpool might sign him.
Stan why do you think that if he leaves chelsea that he wouldnt sign for us ?

Gallas and Cisse would turn this team into serious contenders.

There isn't to much wrong now. If you cant see the difference two top class players would make you are blind. The problem is the first 11 is thin for strength. The squad in general is sound, we just need 2 or 3 TOP CLASS players and we'll be laughing. That way when we get 3 or 4 injuries we won't be as weak as we have been this season. Normal run of injurys this season we'd be nearer to united... maybe 4 or 5 points away tops.

But we've had stupid injuries and not had the first 11 to cope. Next season with the right additions we will have.

Let Chelski think whatever the f##k they like about us. Gallas is class and would be a fantastic buy for us. (assuming we get him for a realistic fee). Pace at the back is just what we need and also he is proven at premiership standard.

Gallas would be great buy (and as wollyback says proven in the premiership).
I said "it would take more than gallas..." and cisse and gallas is more than gallas so I'm not blind as I never said that cisse and gallas wouldnt make a difference.  :)

Exactly, he may be French but he is proven in thr Premiership.  Thats what we need.
How many of the our current players bought directly from abroad have been a success??
Hamann and Henchoz didn't do it at Newcastle and Blackburn

I can only dream that for once the STAR actually print a story thats true !!!!! Galals is Quality and would improve the defence no end but lets face thats no big achievement ( I KNOW 4 previous Clean sheets PRE Arsenal) , thats if you dont include the Marseilles game and against Portsmouth , Wolves, Leicster and Blackburn ??? We also need to consider whats is to be done with the RIGHT Side of midfield, Murphy's has a poor season and Diouf's too costly in terms of Red/Yellow cards and Cheyrou's likew Diuff hit and miss (Miss most of the time) ???  I'm a little sketchy on Cisse on account of actually watching most of my football  LIVE at Anfiield and not glued to Sky LOL :p

The Star ran a story saying Jordan's tits could explode if she got an insect bite on them when she was on I'm a celebrity. I'm waiting patiently...

I'm also having doubts about cisse myself.

As for right mid I think murphys not that good and I think Diouf will improve. But untill he does we need good and experienced player there.
How about Hasan Salihamidzic from Bayern Munich. I'm a big fan of Bayern in the bundesliga and have seen him a lot. He hasnt got many games this season he has started about 60% of games but comes in alot as sub. The seasons before this he looked class and I think he still is. He also has champios league experience something we need as we'll be playing CL football next season.
He is a class player , quick , and is excellent at crosses he would greatly improve liverpools right wing.

what do yous think ?

Also because he is falling out of favour we might get him cheap and he might want to come to us.

I'm not too sure about Cisse but it looks done and dusted so we've got to give the lad a chance. I really would like to see him do well as he obviously has got his heart set on Anfield which can only be a good thing.

I know this has been said a number of times, but i honestly believe we are only three players away from having a great side, One pacey central defender, one classy playmaking midfielder/winger, and someone who is going to scole at least 15 alongside michael!! So with Cisse arriving thats the striker bit sorted.  A creative midfielder, malbranque is being linked along with Van der vaart-very unlikely and J cole, personally would love to see recoba at the pool, he has been heavily linked, and cannot get into the inter milan side, a player who will take on people and has vision, then that leaves the pacey defender, obviously gallas would fit the bill and is a supurb defender and then there is dawson how pacey is he mind??

FACT: Players will leave Chelsea or start moaning.
They basically have 2 first team sets of players. The ones not playing will get restless and move on.
