AGreeed , he needs more games , he was solid at the start of the season , then the injury came , towards the end of last season he was good as he was playing more often . He just needs more playing time and he will rediscover his form

Personally I don't think JP is anywhere near good enough to warrant a place in the first team as he does on many occassions and should consider himself extremely fortunate to be playing at such a big club, as I think he would be much better suited playing for a mid table Premiership team.

He has his positives, he has the ability to whip in a good cross now and again and he's reportedly one of the most popular players at the club and a bit of a joker (which every club needs!) but for a winger he doesn't beat his man anywhere like near enough, and his goals tally is appalling. I realize that as a wide player scoring goals is not top of the priority list but when you compare him with the likes of other natural out and out wingers like Nani, Wright-Phillips and even Aaron Lennon it does not compare well.

GBJH..... u happy now Masher has a goal? Might be wrong, but I think that puts our class defensive midfielder on a par with ur Mr Pennant......

I aint a big fan of Arsene Never Saw Anythin Wenger, but its a fact that he dont let world class players leave his club, and I understand he threw a massive party as Pennants a$$ was brushin the exit door...

Pennant will do for now, but maybe come the close season - and hopefully a war chest - he'll be lookin for a new shirt and number, cuz the guy aint LFC class at all. FFS the Pope or Dracula wudnt get a cross outta him some days :p
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

I would/have and do call Hleb :censored:. I think he's a waste of space and couldn't believe it when I heard Barcelona were after him. I'd have Pennant ahead of Hleb.

You have got to be joking? ???

Ronaldo, 19 goals, 9 pens and 5 free kicks. 5 from open play for "the greatest player in the world" what's that make Benayoun then ???

Beckham, his free kick and pen record spoke for itself.

Pennant is a good choice to have, and everybody knows it.

Its 24 in the league and 4 from the spot you divvy. 5 from free kicks and the rest open play.

How many games has Pennant won for this club? None.

To even compare him to Ronaldo is complete fuck wittery of the highest order.

Pennant will be out in the summer, hopefully we can get a few quid for him and finally land some quality on both flanks. He doesn't do enough of what he's supposed to, in no particular order beat defenders, cross accurately to create goals and score the occaisional goal (intentionally) He scores 5s and 6s, sometimes 7s on a good day. No point "looking good" or "playing" well if there's no end product

I think he will prove to be a good player for us eventually. He needs a good run in the side like Babel is currently enjoying, I have to say I am pretty baffled at the choice of 'El Labrador' on the right wing ahead of him. ???

Now Pennant should chip in with a few more, but so should many of our side, but it seems Pennant to be the scapegoat whereas Mascheranho is player of the year, a fella who hasn't scored at all. It can't be rule for one and one for others. Carrick, Essien and Flamini all play that defensive role Mascheranho does but they also chip in with a fair few goals. So surely if we're going to compare Pennant to other right wingers in terms of goals, lets compare Mascheranho's goal tally to those who play a similar position and Mascheranho would come out last which isn't a fair reflection on the lad because he's a top class player. So I think it's unfair just to blame Pennant for lack of goals in all honesty.

Why not compare Mascherano with Makelele then?  Makelele has been one of, if not the best, holding midfield player over the last 5-6 years (he's probably just past it now).  How many goals did he score for Real and then Chelsea?

Your argument is a joke really.  A winger should certainly be on the score sheet more often than a defensive midfielder.

If you can't see the other qualities that Mascherano has which have made a lot of people say he's our player of the year, then just give up watching football mate.

Pennant is still the best right winger we have. If he wasn't good enough why would Benitez sign him in the first place ???

There's better out there, but right now he's the best we have and still better than Ronaldo :D
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Liverpool simply don't get enough bodies in the box as it is, runs from deep are difficult to pick up and stop, and equally the wingers have to get in at the far post from time to time. That's not to say they should be scoring ten a season, but our wingers struggle to score ten between them in two seasons.

Besides, he barely comes up with an assist. It's funny how some players people on here suggest we give more games as they will improve, and with others it is deemed pointless. Apparently all Crouch and Pennant need are games, that they do FA when they get games is irrelevant (bar the odd scoring spell against naff sides from lil pete)

Yer got my vote.

Comparisons of Ronaldo v Pennant (  ) is unfortunately just an indication of how low the "expert opinion" in this forum sometimes sinks.

Weren't we once linked with Ronaldo for about the same price we paid for Pennant? Of course he cost double that initial fee in the end, seems like a bargain. He's still a count for diving as often as he does, supposed best midfielder in the world still feels he needs to buy a few extra free-kicks and penalties.
