Important truth day announcement

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Taken from RAOTL:

As part of the plans for Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Arsenal, you may have already seen the flyers and announcements on the RTK website - The plan to protest for Justice for the first 6 minutes of the game. It is an official RTK Flag Day and we’ve asked for as many banners as possible to be brought along to the game. If on The Kop, get down to the front with them before the game and let’s make ourselves seen as well as heard.

The 6 minutes will be timed by the holding up of a banner down at the front of The Kop, 6 MINUTES FOR THE 96. When this banner is removed the 6 minutes is up. The banner is 15ft long so you won’t miss it.

Also – we have organised a mosaic for Saturday, a mosaic that will state, in red lettering with a white background, “THE TRUTH?”

One thing however, this is a mosaic with a twist!

Instead of holding up the cards for the mosaic when the players come out, or during YNWA, this time we’re asking for the mosaic to take place when the game kicks off! As soon as the game kicks off, the cards go up and mosaic stays up for the first 6 minutes of the game to accompany the chanting and the banners down the front. Let’s see the BBC cameras ignore this little statement!

In order to make this work, we need volunteers to help lay out the cards for the mosaic on the Kop seats on Saturday morning. Anybody that can lend a hand, please make their way to Flagpole Corner for 10am on Saturday. We’ll be going into the ground at 10am so please make sure you are there before hand. If unsure, Flagpole corner is the corner of the Centenary Stand on the Kop.

Saturday, 10am, Flagpole Corner.

The more we have there, the quicker we can get it done and be out. Also help required distributing RTK and Truth Day flyers required at 3pm outside the Arkles. Hopefully we’ll have plenty of time for a few refreshments between the 2 events!

Roll on Saturday

Cheers for the update Adam.

Should be plenty of publicity for the cause, especially with the game being on the beeb, and therfore available to a wider audience.

I really hope they do give it the coverage it deserves and not just shy away from it and film the dugouts  like do when a streaker runs on the pitch. politics will probabley prevent them from discussing it even if it is shown by the cameras

Liverpool v Arsenal (Sat 6 Jan, 1705 GMT, BBC ONE)

Gary Lineker is joined by Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright as Match of the Day brings you live coverage from Anfield as holders Liverpool welcome Arsenal.

John Motson and Mark Lawrenson will be in the commentary box at Anfield.

And they will be there doing a job they are paid well to do ex players or not. i said i hope it doesnt get covered up but just because 2 ex players will be ther doesnt mean they are going to squeeze it into their half time chat, lineker is the one who prompts the discussion and if he doesnt mention it i cant see hansen trying to highlight it, like i said i hope they do give it the coverage it deserves !!

Can someone tell me what songs of truth are because I'm lost on that one?

I'm in two minds with this whole reclaim the Kop business; I can see that there is sense behind it and that the atmosphere needs improving but feel that the way it's being done isn't going to lead to a bright new glorious era of great fans. People can't sit with mates and you aren't going to get away from that when looking at a lack of atmosphere.

I got a copy of the last RAOTL, first time I have, this issue and it struck me that there's a lot of noble sentiment there but it lacked a sense of humour and a human touch. And man, they ain't winning no caption awards any time soon.

.tv have different plans for the mosaic. They want it removed at kick off. As for keeping it in place for a full six minutes, I can't see it happening as many will want to watch the game. Personally I hope it comes off. I will have a good view of it from the centenary stand.. RIP 96
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.
