Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Martins is a player I want us to seriously consider.  Top player, slightly wasteful in front of goal but always gets into goalscoring positions and can make his own chances.  Would provide a bit of pace especially when Torres is out.  He would score a lot of goals in a top 4 team imo and wouldn't break the bank - in fact doesn't he have a release clause?

Realistically though I don't think Benitez will have money to spend in January.  If he does, it should be spent on a goalscorer.  We will always create chances with the midfield we have, but with Torres struggling for fitness and Keane struggling for form, we need someone else who can stick the ball in the net.

He'd be a reasonable price as well, couldn't see him costing more than 7-8 mill depending on his contract situation and he would be a good fit for the way we play. Would love to see him at the club.

Someone good with the nut!
Even to bring off the bench when we are struggling to break teams down and need a goal, not necessarily a great footballer.A big physical dominant header of the ball that can take on defenders and nut it in the net.
I really cant think of anyone about though....cause i feel he'd need to be cheap!

What is it that seems to put clubs off him though?

I was surprised Inter sold him as when he first broke into their team he looked like a potential star.  Why did no bigger clubs than Newcastle come in for him then?  Then Arsenal were monitoring him but their interest seemed to cool for some reason.  I can't work it out to be honest.

Are there genuine concerns about his true age??  Not taking the pi.ss but it can be a problem with African players.  Is it his personal life??  I'm working in the Northeast these days but there aren't any whispers or rumours about his behaviour around the town.  Is it attitude? Wages?

Mario Ballotelli from Inter would fit the bill. Very strong powerful and tall guy but not sure how much Inter would let him go for. Hes Ghanaian I think but is declared for Italy.

:D I guess your right. With the refinance deal still not clear yet I cant see Rafa being given any more money unless he raises some by selling.

Doesnt matter Bav if he hasnt got pace the lad is magic, some of the things he can do with a ball on the pitch id have him  on my bench . Hes still in the Argentina squad an still does a job there . Bit more built than Aimar an all . Hes playin in Boca at the mo, also another option on the free kicks,
But my first choice still would be Henry
