Fine by me...now Stevie can focus on Liverpool without having to deal with all of the England bollox.  Believe me, lads, the England captaincy is a poisoned chalice that Stevie has done well to avoid.  Pride makes it sting a bit when our top lad gets overlooked but, in the long run, you'll see that this is the best thing for Gerrard and for Liverpool.

Thanks mate

Porobably one of those he's been around for a long time make him captain for a game or two

On the England captain I feel for SG as he wanted to do the job, ok  I wasnt bothered and I dont think many were but if he wanted it then I supported him

Stevie G is Liverpool captain first and foremost, he does not need any other distractions. Let the chavs take the limelight, this is a blessing in disguise IMO.  YNWA Stevie :bowdown

Personally I think Gerrard would have made the better choice however I think both are decent candidates and both are miles better than Beckham.

My reasons for preferring Gerrard are mainly because:

1. I personally find it embarrasing watching the new England captain blub every time he loses a big game.

2. Leading Chelsea to two titles really isn't that much of an achievement at the moment. Chelsea's achievements are purely down to Roman's billions. A better measure is Cup football and when Chelsea have been up against it in a one off match Terry has hardly been inspiring. I think we're all aware of Gerrard's record in this matter.

So that's that--Terry got the job. Personally, I feel that due to McLaren's ManU connections, he couldn't bring himself to give it to a Liverpool player. Anyway, as someone said before, it's probably to the advantage of LFC.

Maybe if SG had joined Chelsea a year ago, he'd be England Captain now!

another reason for Terry getting the nod could be down to who starts in midfield, picking Gerrard would of meant automatic inclusion in the team. just a thought

anyway who gives a toss, stevie g wil get over it and realise he already has the top job in football.

I agree Bob, :censored: England who cares, it's all about the Nacho Libre.

I think it's good John Terry is captain.

He will lead England bravely into.....a quarter final exit at Euro 2008.
