Di vaio to anfield? - Independant thinks so.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Todays Independant claims Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is planning to raid his old club Valencia & one of his main targets is Italian striker Di Viao. Recently Vaio has lost his place in the starting line to Villa so maybe there's unrest in the camp?

He was fantastic in Italy, very good in the air and has a real rifle of a shot, all round has a very powerful game. Wouldn't be a bad move at all, but I'm sure he'd favour a move back to Serie A.

Thats a good point. At Parma he scored goal after goal, a lot like Gilardino did last season. But he lacked consistency at Juve, he scored 18 goals in 55 league games for them, which is ok, but not great. He's done nothing at Valencia though, and ever since Claudio got sacked he hasn't really got a look in.

He needs a move to revive his career, and tbh I don't think Liverpool is the place for him to do it.

He is more of a UEFA cup side not really suited for the top flight level. I cant remember the last time he played for Italy so i guess that gives us an indication of howm his homeland veiws him. I dont kow whay but were constantly getting linked with strikers. First that Riki from Getafe now this guy. I really dont think Rafa is going to sell Cisse and even is he did he would make sure that he splashes out some dosh for a proven striker not on the on the fringes.

I can see the Di Viao move happening. He used to be a decent player and is hardly a spring chicken, but I could see Rafa going for a loan move.

Rafael Benitez has branded newspaper reports linking Liverpool with moves for Marco Di Viao and Steed Malbranque as pure speculation.
Di Vaio of Valencia and Fulham's Malbranque are the latest in a long line of players to linked with a January move to Anfield.

But Benitez is refusing to be drawn into transfer talk such as this and said today: "It is just newspaper talk, they like to speculate and continue to come up with lots of names."

He also stressed that rumours linking Harry Kewell with a move to Aston Villa fall into the same category.

I won't say anything about the rumour because I see one concerning Di Vaio every day, including he might come to my team.

But I'll say that he's a piece of striker. So is moro. There are other needs IMHO, although if we had to drop Cisse it would be a good signing. Yet, he's not that fast, and to complement Crouch and Morientes work, I'd pick a fast player.
