didn't he score a hatrick against arsenal in 5 mins too ? Just imagine if we has a fit fowler with us now....... We would still be unbeaten now  :D

That finish on the first day of the season - it showed that the guy still has his instincts in the box. With some good, hard training, I genuinely, genuinely believe that he's still among the top English strikers, and he just needs the right club with the right set up to bring the best out of him.

Unfortunately, we have that now with Rafa and co, but judging by the manner in which he was sold (in the wake of a hat-trick against Leicester, I remind you), LFC probably burnt our bridges with the lad. I hope that the Man C episode isn't the last in his career, as he's clearly still got so much to offer.

True ivor look at shearer 33 and still scoring hat-tricks, thats why people make me laugh when they say that Owen is finished, Id have Owen and Fowler back tomorrow, but maybe im biased and cant get over the fact they have both gone for both completely different reasons.
There was only one God and that was Robbie Fowler.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Fowler get a 3 year contract at LFC.

On the international stage, look at what England has as the moment:

Owen
Rooney
Defoe
Smith
Vassell
Heskey

Get Fowler fit and playing regularly, and he's more than capable of getting in amongst that list of players. Even with a leg in plaster I'd trust him to score more regularly than Vassell and Heskey.

Just one problem with that Ivor. Robbie never had the discipline that top level football required really. You have to say that his lifestyle got in the way of his career and he will always be talked about in a similar way as Gazza. Once GH walked into the club the writing was on the wall for him and he showed that once a discplinarian comes to a club it means that he wouldnt last the pace.

.

... I suppose the question is does he still have the will, the attitude and the appetite... to make the contributions we all know he is capable of .....

It is up to him...

It's a matter of being surrounded with the right people. At Man City, Keegan has tried to cultivate a "lads" atmosphere, which has alienated Anelka to a degree, sent fitness levels down the toilet, and cleverly put Robbie back on the sauce. Bringing McManaman over from Spain has also been exposed as a terrible decision - mates they may be, but he may as well have just installed a bar in Fowler's house.

Maybe he needs a club to come in for him and offer something like a game-by-game contract. He needs the motivation to play, and being in the comfort zone on the bench of an average side clearly isn't doing it for him. It would be an absolute tragedy if he were to retire when he's not even hit 30 - for me he's an intelligent forward not a million miles from the likes of Sheringham, who could well be doing a job for a top flight team when he's nearing 40 if he manages to rekindle his appetite for the game.

being honest with you, fowler was a goal poacher and thats what we lack really, we need someone like him, i mean ian rush was a legend before fowler and then fowler, who wasn't as good, but still was a similar type of striker

does this suspension involve contract termination -- if so could we sign him now -- really -- take a chance -- he was so good on those ugly goals -- why not give him a shot -- just imagine the introduction he would get

The idea of getting Robbie back on track is just a dream I'm afraid as hes had quite a few years already and not managed it.

Its all down hill fast now I think!

I remember Robbie scoring at the Kop end for City a few seasons ago, he didn't even celebrate but walked back to their half with his head low, you can see that he was gutted to leave Anfield, in the Leeds press conference that he wasn't happy and almost looked like crying :(

right now a striker in robbie fowlers mould is exactly what we need, a striker who can score all types of goals the ugly and the beautiful. What a player  fowler was for us though its a real shame the way things turned out :(
