Atmosphere

What has happenened to the atmosphere round Anfield? Since i first started going aged 8 in 97, th atmophere has got worse and worse. With the exceptions of a few games (Roma, Houlliers return was the greatest night of my life) the atmosphere only seems to be raised agianst the big (ego) three and the blueshite. We need to bring back that kop choir, im an out of townie, i come from Carlisle for evey home game and despite some of the stereotyping, i sing my heart out. When YNWA is played, especially for league matches its never more than murmerred around the kop, and as for the raiseing of scarves! You get people turning roung during it and talking to the guy behind, idiots on their phones, and then those easterneuropean style horns - why? It is out national anthem, eveyone needs to raise their scarve, as much as i dislike Celtic, i still get a tingle up my spine when i see all those carves raised into the air, we need to make it a sea of red again. We have some great songs such as Fields, scouser tommy, la bamba, but we need to be more inventive with our chants. MOR-I-ENTES, yawn thats not a chant, why dont we get one going to the tune of the ABBA song, anyway back to YNWA please raise yor scrave and sing, be it Bolton or Barcelona, raise it and sing, the kop can be the twelve man once again, i honestly belive if we all sang more and made YNWA more of an event, we would pick up more points. Another suggestion i have is that we get some Megaphones onto the kop/cardiff to start off chants.

I was disappointed with the atmosphere when it was 1-1 last saturday. it was like a morgue. The crowd has to get behind the team even more when there in trouble. Also, i was disappointed with the crowd getting on traores back especially when he delayed throw ins. Okay, he had a poor game for the most part but he deserves as much support as any player! but i thought the atmosphere was class when we were in front.

If you want Atmosphere go to AWAY games . Miles better and much more of a feeling of being "together" with the team :)

NOT strictly true Scott. There have bene a couople of games this season that went on general sale for away games.

People often just decide they can't get tickets rather than actually trying but thats a whole different thread and I don't want to incur the wrath of those that don't attend and think i'm having a  go :D

You cant knock a good away game I have to agree, and you tend to travel with sounder supporters and not the section of scally sh1ts you see hanging round Anfield.

Can you hear the drums Fernando?
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the firelight Fernando
You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar

They were closer now Fernando
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Fernando
We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando

Now we're old and grey Fernando
And since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand
Can you hear the drums Fernando?
Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio
Grande?
I can see it in your eyes
How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando
Yes, if I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando...

i agree with point about idiots rasing their scarves and not singing or talking to people behind them

loads at the match raise their scarves and only sing the last bit, these tend to be foriegners who dont make a noise for the rest of the game, i ****** hate them

the best atmosphere this season was against olypiakos(sorry for the spelling)  brilliant it was

thats becuase the ooters dont tend to come to the midweek games cos they have work the next morning and dont fancy getting home at all hours

the away games are well better i know loads of lads who go to them and they always say once you go to an away game your hooked cos thet are well better

Agreed there, you usually find that it's non scouser that sit their quite, where I don't give a f**k and always have a laugh with the people around me, true reds have a real personality as well as just supporting the team, you can't beat it when someone shouts out something witty and gets the kop laughin  :)

The Olypiakos game was one the best nights I've been to at Anfield, it even tops the Roma and PSG games, I think I even heard the main stand sing that night, lol.
