My advice, and I mean this seriously, is get some lessons and take up golf with your missus. You've got lovely courses over there, if you're away from the tourist centre's nobody plays so they're empty, and in no time at all she'll be playing with her friends and you'll be having a game with yours. Once you get too old to run around a football pitch, poker and golf ought to be compulsary for all red blooded men. If you take your seven iron out with you of an evening, you'll easily overcome anyone who's been doing martial arts as well.

I wouldn't try golf. I am 6 ft3, do weights (bench press a set of 6 x 90kg) and a bit of running but when i tried golf it really hurt my back. i've no idea why, i see old men do it but my back didn't like the twisting. i'd give golf a miss if her back is dodgy.

cheer up though, there are lots of sports or activities that won't stress the back.

I practiced various forms of Kung-Fu when I was a teenager for several years. If a doctor is saying it's bad, then that style of martial arts is bad and she should stop it. Although I wouldn't rule out any form of martial art. Wing-chun Kung-fu might actually be ideal because there is very little use of the legs involved. It's mostly all upper body with arms being employed mostly, and practicing it doesn't mean you have to do much movement at all. It's all very up close manipulation of body weight. It's a martial art developed by a woman, and designed mostly for a woman. Perhaps you might want to look into that, though I'd really get a second opinion first.

Donno much about the injury you described Sabre, but I do agree with most on here...... you don't want to be taking any risks if the backs involved. Simply not worth it.

Sorry to hear about it mate.

But the Big Niall's suggestion is a good 'un.... try tai chi.... I've heard a lot of good things about it even though I don't have 1st hand experience. Another one which worked for me was pilates. I'd be careful with golf though.... if you rtechnique's dodgy, you could seriously hurt the back.

I like the sex suggestion as well but make sure your employ the right techniques :;): otherwise, you may throw YOUR back out!.

Swimming is also a great excersise for bad backs but golf is a great way to spend the day.

Phisiotherapy could be used as well maybe?

it's physiotherapy!          :D

anyway would something like acupuncture would help?

Bob, you need to start using the spellcheck mate. You must have typed that in wrong, because on my screen it came through as "dancing"   ??? I know you probably meant "hunting" or "mountaineering" or "formula three car racing" or something, but anyone who didn't know you mate might think you actually meant the old fandango, or even worse, the foxtrot  ??? Be careful with the old typos there mate, they'll be talking about you   :;):

Yes. I think once in a PM he mentioned it, but I passed it or ignored it.

I'm cráp at football. But dancing is even worse. I have no sense of coordination with the music, and I simply don't know dancing. In a pub I'm one of those who shake his head up and down if there's rock. But dancing? only if totally píssed and alone.

He's right though that these days it's pretty fashionable. There are loads of "bachata", "salsa", "foxtrot" caribbean music classes, etc. But quite simply it's a big no no for me. Plus I think you can learn it at some extent, but like in football learning and practicing may not make you necessarily a decent dancer.

My girl refuses to do mountain biking because she doesn't like it, so I can ban dancing, fortunately.

I'll have to find another together activity.

I had slipped disc and was in agony for three months but was put right by a chiropractor who was practising the 'Mactimony' technique. This essentially focuses on the whole skeleton and is gentle manipulation from your feet to your head, it's actually very pleasant and leaves you feeling quite dazed aftrewards. Its the only thing that worked for me after trying loads of other techniques from osteopathy, physiotherapy, reflexology etc. If your seeing a specialist he should advise appropriately, it's important to know exactly what the problem is so any treatment is effective. Good luck.

Philistines!  It's precisely because I'm comfortable with my masculinity that I can recommend dancing.  It's good exercise and the ladies love a man who knows his way around the dance floor (vertical expression of a horizontal desire and all that...).  You know it makes sense. :D

Yeh, yeh, I have heard of those theories that try to defend that to be a good fúcker, you have to be a good dancer.

But I've proven that wrong empirically.  :D

No problem mate, I said I don't like dancing, but I like watch people dancing. So if once we dinner the two couples together, you dance, and we are in the table taking care of your missus handbag and your jacket.

I like watching people dance. You can look at women with the pretext of watching couples dance without your missus getting angry. Not bad watching dance.

I have never heard of someone that speaks Spanish not being able to dance.  If you are ever in America looking for some strange I would suggest you keep that fact to yourself :D because the expectation would be Image

Yeh, well, erm, we don't do much of that in the north. Some women do that in classes, the Andalussians living here they keep their traditions, but it's rare.

I guess it's as unlikely to see a cowboy from Texas with the boots and the hat, in Chicago.  :D

just preparing you for expectations, because if you said you were from the Basque region Americans might think you were from Middle Earth or something.  :D
