but even as an attacking player its not just the tricks and flicks that make him a good player, they are actually embelishments to an already fine talent. ronaldinho can run as powerfully with the ball as anyone in the game and close down players when he hasn't, he can spot a short pass as well as floating the ball to a player on the other side of the pitch while selling the opposing player a dummy with his eyes.
the media love the image of this pure attacking player with all the flair in the world but it actually does the guy a disservice by ignoring the other aspects of his game. if i had to choose one midfielder in the world (if we're going to include him as a midfielder) i would pick ronaldinho every time. however if i had to lose gerrard to have ronaldinho in the team it would be a very very difficult decision to have to make. gerrard might just edge it for me for a number of reasons to do with local pride, heart and the romance of it all.
