Cheers fella, but your post deserves a response from those in the know and hopefully a response as to why this forum has become so frigid.

As members, we are always looking for new members to join our community. It seems lately a select few get through. It seems to me that all the members on here are quite happy to introduce new members, and indeed the few do get through. There was a topic a while back in which Dundalk pointed out how few they were who stayed. The patience shown by those here at the time introduced the new members. Nanny, LFC 2007, Toffeehater, Maypax. From last year, those are the regulars.

Are you seriously suggesting that there is some massive vetting and filtering system and that only the "select few" get through ?

Who are the select few ? who vetted them ? who let them "get through" ?

As far as people who have left go, I've been here as long as most and I can tell you from my experience that people come and go all the time for a multitude of reasons very few of which have anything to do with the mods.

I've often contacted and asked members why they haven't visited the forum for a x amount of time.

The four prime reasons I have been given for people leaving are

1, Just too busy (work, education etc)
2, Fed up with all sh'ite and abuse thats constantly being spouted
3, Can't stand a particular member.
4, Bored with all the squabbles

Perhaps instead of attempting to invent some unproven and tenuous reason for the departure of members we should  perhaps firstly all look at ourselves and our contribution to the forum. If the last couple of pages in this thread are anything to go by we certainly need to.

i can't believe some of the krap that's coming out. ideas that there is some kind of filtering system that only allows select people through to become members. ideas that we need some kind of committee to moderate the mods. i mean, what the hell are you people on?? this is a football forum not the fukking groucho club or the freemasons for christ's sake.

just get on with your lives and come on here for some light hearted football chat and a little hang out with some virtual mates. leave all the serious stuff for the (real) real world - that's where it belongs.

You're probably right mate, all I was really trying to do was suggest a possible answer to what I personally saw as a problem
