I've also used Vista 64 bit.

everything the same as mine mate it works pretty good!

what meg broardband have you got it is awesome with 10m

A measly 3mbit.

In Ireland broadband speeds are waaaaaaay too slow compared to the rest of Europe.

I'm going away with the missus for a few days and when I'm come back I'm aiming to overclock the q6600 to about 3.2GHZ and the graphics card by about 10%.

Been playing World in Conflict tonight on me new rig and all I have to say is that the graphics are out of this world! The DX10 explosion effects are freakin' awesome.

I have Vista (just not installed ) is it worth upgrading just for DX10? My comp is 12months old so not exactly cutting edge.

To be fair, Saint, DX10 probably isn't worth it yet. Yes, the DX10 effects are very nice, but they are not THAT nice so as to justify a big upgrade.

Also, while the 8800 range are absolutely sensational at DX9 games (they'll murder any game in DX9 mode) they are only the first generation DX10 and so can be lacklustre in DX10. No machine can yet handle Crysis at highest settings and high rez with AA/AF.

That said, you can get a 8800 GT for about £150 and that is an incredible card (just don't expect it to play Crysis maxed out).

Which do you think I would see the most benefit from ?

1/ Increasing my RAM from 2 gb to 4gb (only a 32bit windows system so only 1gb to 1.5gb actual increase?)would cost about £35

2/ New graphics card (256mgb 7900gs at present) 8800 GT would cost about £150?

3/ Second 256mgb 7900gs card ? Are there any games using 2 graphics cards yet?

my biggest upgrade performance wise was from 2gb ram up to 4gb performance was better by far than any of my other upgrades!

Fair enough mate, my mate always corrects me on my 'their' and 'there' in emails and it p155es me off, I don't see what the problem is as I'm not exactly typing a message to the queen, if I was then I'd understand it, but seeing as though I'm not I find it demoralising, no one likes a smart ar5es  :;):  :D

Right guys and gals, I need some PC advice.

My Pc is fairly old now (Radeon 9200, 512 Ram AMD Athlon 2700+ running XP) and i'm looking at buying a few bits, from ebay or wherever, new or old,  for it to spruce things up. I'm not looking for something near what JBG does with his PC's as I don't play bleeding edge games like Crysis or SupCom.

I've been looking at a few graphics cards to help out with performance for the likes of HL2, PES6 etc and someone mentioned getting something like a radeon 9800 XT - cheap to buy with enough bang for my buck to help games run a bit smoother. I've seen one on ebay for about £8!

Basically, i want to know, considering the budget I am setting (looking at £8 graphics cards, you can probably guess), what can anyone recommend I should look for? Is it worth looking at a slightly better graphics card, or investing in some more ram or even a new proccessor?

I'm aware that really I should start from scratch and all that - however, i'm just looking for a quick fix as i've got a spanking new PS3 coming in May which will facilitate my COD4 needs just fine.

Thanks in advance peeps. :)

Best advise I can give is get a 360 and you won't have to upgrade every 5 minutes, oh dear a PS3, just out of interest mate why did you choose a PS3 over a 360?

COD4 = Xbox Live :;):

On a serious note don't go for a PCI card their cheap and for a reason, always go for an AGP one.

PM JBG cos he's the best person to speak to about PC's and games  :;):

During my teenage years I was hooked on Championship Manager like many other football fanatics.

It got to the point where I used to write down on paper my formation and tactics for whatever game I had coming up whilst in class at school.

Luckily for my own sake I also discovered girls by year 9.  :D

I love RPG's and The Elder Scrolls series has consumed hundreds of hours of my adventurous life.

Can anybody remember a game called Moonstone on the Amiga 1200? Now that was some classic old-skool :censored:!

Unquestionably get the 8800 GT. You'll see a MASSIVE difference.

The thing is, seeing that RAM is so cheap at the moment, getting another 2 gigs shouldn't break the bank.
