I think its a joke that chambers cant run.  He served his ban, whats the problem?  Carl Myerscough is not banned for life even though he tested positive for the Juice.  Christine Ohuruogu missed 3 drug tests which to me is as good as being tested positive yet she aint banned.

but he hasnt served his ban, the agreement was: do drugs and you wont ever be in olympics... ergo his ban is in force for good.

probably best he doesn't go. although he's obviously got a huge talent, it wouldn't send out the right signals to other athletes....it would day "hey, if you get caught taking drugs we'll let you off after a couple of years"...and some guys will take that risk.

dont have a problem with the guy getting a second chance myself, can someone tell why he`s only banned from the olympics for life and not athetics as a whole, seems pretty stupid dont you think.

and just because the ruling says baaned from the olympics for life doesnt mean its right and should not be contested, you cannot ban someone from one competition but let him run in another, its a bloody farce.

It's a British Olympic Association bylaw that prevents him from running, they don't govern the whole of Athletics, only team GB for the olympics. Their bylaw, their right.

He knew it before he took THG (and a host of other drugs), therefore he shouldn't have contested it.

He knew the rules before taking prohibited substances, he broke the rules knowingly, therefore he has to accept the consequences attached to those rules.

Whether the bylaw is appropriate or not is another question altogether. I don't have an opinion as to whether a lifetime ban from the olympics is an appropriate punishment. The BOA determine their own sanctions, and perhaps they're of the opinion that the changes induced by steroids and the like are long-lasting, enough to affect an athlete throughout their entire career. It's perfectly plausible, and they have the right to determine the basis for such a ban.
